  28.      This program sends a text file to a Hewlett-Packard Plus, HP II series, 
  29. HP III series or HP 4 series printer or 100% compatible.  To set up, place
  30. the TEXT2HP.EXE file and the I.FNT file in a directory reachable by path,
  31. and put the fillowing line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
  32.  
  33. SET EPATH=<DRIVE> :\ <DIRECTORY WHERE TEXT2HP IS>
  34.  
  35. for example,

  37. SET EPATH=C:\TEXT2HP
  38.  
  39. TEXT2HP will give you an error if the EPATH is not set up so it points to
  40. the directory where the I.FNT file is.

  42. The syntax for TEXT2HP is:    
  43.     
  44. Usage: TEXT2HP <filename> [ format [ LPT port [ Duplex ]]]                      
  45.                
  46. Filename is the file you wish to print:                                         
  47.                
  48. Format is the print page format:                                                 
  49.   1 = 1 column portrait,                                                      
  50.   2 = double column landscape - default                                       
  51.                
  52. LPT Port is the printer port you wish to send output to:                           
  53.   L1 = LPT1: - default                                                        
  54.   L2 = LPT2:                                                                  
  55.   L3 = LPT3:                                                                  
  56.                
  57. Duplex is if you want duplex printing (printing on both sides of the paper)                              
  58. Duplex printing is possible on HP series IID, IIID, IIIsi (w/ duplex option)    
  59.   D1 = No duplex - default                                                    
  60.   D2 = Duplex printing desired

  64. TEXT2HP $READ.ME - Prints file in 2-column landscape format, LPT1, no duplex  
  65. TEXT2HP $READ.ME 1 L2 D2 - Prints file in 1-column landscape, LPT2, duplex on

  68. This program is distributed as a demo of Escape, and also as a freeware 
  69. utility since I found it useful to have around.  You can freely distribute 
  70. this program as long as the contents of the archive are not modified in any 
  71. way, all files are kept together and no cost is charged for this program.

  81. 1.2  Information on Escape

  83. Escape is published by Pinnacle Publishing, Inc.  Pinnacle is the world's
  84. largest publisher of third-party add-on software for the database market.

  86. Escape is an add-on library for Clipper 5.0x and 5.2x.  Escape gives the         
  87. programmer total control over HP LaserJet+, II series, III series and 4 series   
  88. and compatibles.  Through use of Escape, you can control all aspects of          
  89. character placement including font, size, symbol set and placement.  You also    
  90. have access to functions allowing you to place PCX images, boxes, circles and    
  91. lines anywhere on the page.  Escape supports internal, cartridge and HPII        
  92. compatible soft fonts.  Soft font special effects, like on-the-fly scaling,      
  93. bolding and patterning is also supported.
