  6. An easy to use tax preparation system suitable for both individuals and
  7. paid tax preparers.  Features pull-down menus, mouse support, on-line help
  8. and automatic installation.  Enter data in any order at any time, and
  9. instantly see the effect of changes on your tax due.  Each return is
  10. automatically stored in a separate file to facilitate copying and
  11. archiving.  A sample return is included to get you off to a fast start.

  13. Prints IRS-approved high-quality graphic Form 1040 on LaserJet, DeskJet,
  14. IBM ProPrinter and Epson FX and LQ printers.  Prints IRS-approved
  15. substitute forms for all other forms on any printer.

  74. To send a FAX, just press your SEND key.  If for some reason that does
  75. not work, then press "77#" anytime after the voice answer to activate
  76. the FAX.

  78. The latest version of Share-TAX/1040 will always be uploaded (under file
  79. name "STAX93.ZIP") to Compuserve and GENIE.  It will also be distributed
  80. via several nationwide BBS networks.  Therefore, it is likely that you
  81. can download the latest version from a BBS local to you.

  84.                        Using the INSTALL Program
  85.  
  86. If you received the program from a shareware distributor in "packed" form,
  87. you must first "unpack" it according to their instructions (the fact that
  88. you are reading this means either that you must have already done so, or
  89. you did not receive it in packed format).
  90.  
  91. Place the original diskette (or diskette containing unpacked files) in drive
  92. "A:" or "B:".  Then at the DOS prompt, type "A:INSTALL" or "B:INSTALL",
  93. respectively, and answer the questions.

  95.                    IF YOU HAVE A MONOCHROME SCREEN
  96.  
  97. If you have a monochrome screen and you have difficulty reading it, start
  98. the program in monochrome mode by running with the /B option (run it by
  99. typing "STAX93 /B" at the DOS prompt).  This may not be necessary with all
  100. monochrome screens, but is likely to be quite necessary with some laptops. 
  101. You should then select "monochrome" on the COLOR screen, and next time you
  102. run the program it will remember your preferences without typing the "/B".

  104.                    OLDER COMPUTERS WITHOUT A MOUSE
  105.  
  106. If your DOS is 3.0 or later, then the program checks to see if you have a
  107. mouse.  If you want the program to assume that you do not have a mouse, and
  108. to not even check for one, run it with the /N option (Example, at the DOS
  109. prompt type: "STAX93 /N").
  110.  
  111. For DOS earlier than 3.0, the program assumes that you do not have a mouse
  112. and will not even check for one.  The reason is that some older computers
  113. will hang with a blank screen when the program checks for a mouse.  If in
  114. this case you do have a mouse, run the program with tne /M option (Example,
  115. at the DOS prompt type: "STAX93 /M").

  120. printed while running the program.  Select the "About/View Manual" or
  121. "Print/Print Manual" pull-down menu functions.
