  3. *Signature File Update Information for the MS-DOS 6 Anti-Virus Program*
  4.   
  5. This update works with MS-DOS 6 Anti-Virus Program V1.0 or later.
  6.  
  7. To update your version of the MS-DOS 6 Anti-Virus Program, follow these
  8. steps:
  9.  
  10. 1.    From the Central Point BBS, download the self-extracting archive file
  11.       as DOSAV.EXE to a temporary directory on your hard drive.
  12.  
  13. 2.    Run DOSAV.EXE to extract the update signature file, VIRSIGS.MS, and the
  14.       Read Me file, DOSAV.TXT, which contains the signature file and an updated
  15.       list of virus signatures included in the VIRSIGS.MS file.
  16.  
  17. 3.    Copy the VIRSIGS.MS file to the DOS directory on your hard drive, or
  18.       the directory that contains the MS-DOS 6 Anti-virus program files.
  19.  
  20. 4.    Reboot your computer to invoke the new signatures when you run VSAFE.
  21.  
  22. 5.    Run the MS-DOS 6 Anti-Virus Program.
  23.  
  24. The virus list is updated automatically when you run the program.
  25.  
  26. There are some virus signatures included in the DOSAV.EXE file that have the
  27. same name as viruses already detected by your version of MS-DOS 6 Anti-Virus
  28. Program.  As new variants of viruses are found, we may add the variant
  29. signature to the signature file to increase the virus detection capability. 
  30. Since the name of the variant is, in most cases, the same as the original
  31. virus name, it will show up in the virus list only once and will not be
  32. added to the total virus count.
