PHOMAST6.ZIP -=- What's New
March 15, 1991
Release 6.4
It has been over three years now since I released PHOMAST3.ARC,
and over a year since PHOMAST5.ARC. Since that time I have
received letters and cards from all over the world from people
just like yourself that want to enjoy the power of YAM or ZCOMM
yet have had trouble getting a handle on this very comprehensive
communications environment. With all this feed back, plus time
working with YAM/ZCOMM I have come up with this latest release.
This new version is called PHOMAST6.ZIP and it includes some
additional sections and coding changes based on user input over
the past year. Because of its universal acceptance combined with
the fact it is now being shipped with both YAM and ZCOMM you are
now looking at the newest version. It has been revised to work
with YAM/ZCOMM Version 17.70 and above.
So what's new:
1) A fully automated script configuration that allow you to
work with YAM/ZCOMM right out of the box. All you need is
YAM.EXE (or its shareware subset ZCOMM.EXE) and this PHOMAST.T
script. Menu driven setup means you're up and running without
even using an editor. It automatically sets up modem prefix,
port selection, screen color, long distance carrier codes, and
finds help files...
2) Menu drive selection of dialing prefix, especially useful
for laptop users on the go, is activated with Shift-F6.
3) Automatic connect speed sensing.
4) Expansion of added functionality provided in newer
versions of YAM.
5) Increased script documentation to help explain items where
confusion existed in the past releases. Included sections
describes various YAM/ZCOMM functionality (i.e. help,
command-line, etc.).
6) Phone numbers were updated to reflect recent changes.
7) Autolog example provided for WildCat, TCOMM, and
CompuServe.
8) New option to keep remote from timing out due to
inactivity... (Shift-F3) for this Holding pattern.
9) An 12 page mini-manual (PHOMAST.DOC) that is formatted for
your printer. This supplements the disk or printed manual
highlighting important information. Just give the DOS command:
'PRINT PHOMAST.DOC'
10) A history file whose contents automatically empty on
program exit (you can easily modify this code to write over
contents before erasure if you need true password protection).
11) Updated example of how to call an external dialing menu
(SHIFT-F7).
12) More comprehensive color setup and color display (using
the 'gosub color' command)
13)
14) An update of the lean mean script written by Bob
Willoughby called TUF_FONS.T as a demonstration of a bare-bones,
no-frills, phones script to use as a platform if you just want
core functionality.
----------------------------------------
I suggest you print out and READ the PHOMAST.DOC file. To do
this just give the DOS command: 'PRINT PHOMAST.DOC'. The
documentation explains much of how YAM/ZCOMM works... I hope you
enjoy this upgrade! Whether you have used one of my older
versions or are a new user I'm sure you will find this upgrade
very helpful. If you are a new user -- welcome to the powerful
world of YAM/ZCOMM. I was a die-hard ProComm user in the past
and can say with certainty you will enjoy the power and
flexibility of this communications package from OMEN Technology.
Happy Computing... michael
