{COMMO} Upgrade Guide
=====================
If you are a previous user of {COMMO}, you will probably want to
retain your customized support files. This guide will help you to
do that and to take advantage of the new features as well.
Instructions will first be given for a general upgrade from any
version 5 release, followed by specific instructions for upgrading
to the most recent release(s).
The file HISTORY contains a complete list of changes, including new
macro functions that may be used to improve your custom macros.
General Upgrade Instructions
----------------------------
1. Replace your old copy of COMMO.COM with the new copy.
2. Keep your old COMMO.SET.
3. Keep your old COMMO.FON.
4. If you have NOT made any custom changes to COMMO.MAC, then
replace your old copy with the new copy. If you have made
changes, then follow the specific instructions below.
5. Replace your old copies of COMMO.HLP, COMMO.DOC and MACRO.DOC
with the new copies.
Specific Upgrade Instructions - Upgrading to 5.52
-------------------------------------------------
COMMO.SET
=========
Most users will want to change their "hfc" item as follows:
{hfc=auto} Hardware (RTS/CTS) Flow Control (auto/yes/no)
This new setting for Hardware Flow Control should work for virtually
all users. If necessary, the "yes" and "no" options are still
available.
COMMO.MAC
=========
The macro functions HFLOw and SFLOw have been eliminated. They
should be removed from your custom macros (they were not used in any
standard {COMMO} macros).
The file transfer (protocol) macros have been updated. If you have
customized your Macro File, you should use a cut and paste editor to
include the new protocol macros (both upload and download). The
Macro File SELECT.MAC should be placed in your {COMMO} home
directory.
