  14. |    1.  Select the Communications Manager/2 ICON folder                        
  15. |        from the Desktop.                                                      
  16. |    2.  Select the PROBLEM DETERMINATION AID - TRACE ICON.                     
  17. |    3.  On the PROBLEM DETERMINATIONS AIDS - TRACE SERVICES                    
  18. |        panel:                                                                 
  19. |    3.1     For Product, select COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER                         
  20. |    3.2     Under APIs, DLCs, Events, select the options as                    
  21. |            directed by IBM Level 2 Support.                                   
  22. |    3.3     Select Options on the Action Bar                                   
  23. |    3.4     Select Trace Buffer Details                                        
  24. |    3.5     Set TRACE BUFFER SIZE (x64KB) to 16                                
  25. |    3.6     Set TRACE RECORD LENGTH (bytes) to 144                             
  26. |            unless directed otherwise by IBM Level 2 Support                   
  27. |    3.7     Click on OK.                                                       
  28. |    4.  Click on START, Trace Status shows ACTIVE                              
  29. |    5.  Click on TOGGLE VIEW, to verify that the selected                      
  30. |        traces were started.                                                   
  31. |    6.  Recreate the problem.                                                  
  32. |    7.  Return to the PROBLEM DETERMINATIONS AID - TRACE                       
  33. |        SERVICES PANEL.                                                        
  34. |    7.1    Click on STOP ALL, trace status shows INACTIVE                      
  35. |    7.2    Click on SAVE. The FILENAME SELECTION panel is                      
  36. |           displayed.                                                          
  37. |    8.  On the FILENAME SELECTION panel,                                       
  38. |    8.1    For FILENAME, enter <pmrnumber>.trc                                 
  39. |           Note: pmrnumber is Problem number open to IBM.                      
  40. |    8.2    The default selections will place the file                          
  41. |           in CMLIB for pickup by CMPD processing.                             
  42. |           From an OS/2 command prompt, issue the command                      
  43. |           CMPD <pmrnumber> d1: d2: where d1 is the disk                       
  44. |           where CM is installed, and d2 is the disk where                     
  45. |           NTS/2 (LAPS) is installed (optional), both                          
  46. |           usually being C: C: , and press Enter.                              
  47. |    8.3    A compressed file called <pmrnumber>.RAM will be                    
  48. |           generated containing configuration, error, message,                 
  49. |           ini, and other related files, followed by a listing                 
  50. |           of all the files contained therein...this takes a                   
  51. |           little while to do all that, so please be patient!                  
  52. |    8.4    Copy  CMLIB <pmrnumber>.RAM to a diskette for                       
  53. |           analysis by the service personnel requesting                        
  54. |           the information.                                                    
  55. |    9.  Click on OK, Verification notice pop-up is presented.                  
  56. |   10.  Close the FILENAME SELECTION Window.                                   
  57. |   11.  Close the PROBLEM DETERMINATIONS AIDS - TRACE SERVICES                 
  58. |        window.
