  41. |Problem: - Communications Manager will not load
  42. |           Token-Ring driver
  43. |         - Message: ACS0111  (CM message: Main CM Menu)
  44. |                    LT00050  (Lan Transport: in LANTRAN.LOG)
  45. |         - Error: Type 0017 00000002 ALERT 3EF789B7
  46. |         - Duplicate address appears to be returned by the
  47. |           network, although there is not a duplicate address.
  48. |           this is caused by a device (S/W or H/W)
  49. |           probably echoing back the address.
  50. |         - A duplicate address is present on the ring.
  51. |
  52. |Solution: Resolve the duplicate address.
  53. |
  54. |Suggestions:
  55. |         1. Change the T/R address to insure it is unique.
  56. |         2. Find the duplicate address:
  57. |            -ask the IBM Account Team to use OS2PING from the
  58. |             IBM tools disks or
  59. |            -use a LAN manager program to query the adapter
  60. |             address or
  61. |            -use a sniffer trace
  62. |         3. Try adding "NETFLAGS = 0x0100" after the link
  63. |            statement in the PROTOCOL.INI file. The NETFLAGS
  64. |            parameter is a circumvention until the S/W or H/W
  65. |            that is incorrectly echoing or incorrectly
  66. |            sending a duplicate address can be identified
  67. |            and corrected.  After the S/W or H/W (bridge,
  68. |            router, etc.) is found and corrected, then
  69. |            the parameter should be removed to allow Lan
  70. |            Transport to continue checking for the error of
  71. |            a duplicate address.

  81. |           (EVEN IF THE  TOKEN ENTRY  IS NOT BEING USED)
  82. |SOLUTION:
  83. |         1. Add a value on the line below the  TOKEN  entry
