Football Challenge

Atomic Software
Version 1.0
Shareware Software
This version of Football Challenge is a shareware demo. The fee for the
professional version is $15.00. The fee covers the cost of distribution and
not the cost of the program development. If the user finds the demo version
to be of use, he/she is expected to send in the registration form along with
the software fee. This will entitle the user to a complete printed manual
along with the professional version of Football Challenge. User cooperation
is essential for the concept of Shareware Software to be successful.

Introduction
Football Challenge is a game designed to test players abilities to pick the
winners of professional football game matchups each week. The game also tests
players abilities to recognize close matchups each week. Football Challenge
should be used for entertainment purposes only.
This demo version manual gives a short description of the software's commands.
The profession version manual will contain detailed descriptions of all the
commands and functions.
Schedule Setup
The first thing to set up is the football season schedule. Before any players
can make their weekly picks, that weeks schedule must be entered. This is
done by selecting the Edit Schedule option. The default for all the games
will be "No team selected.".
To select a team, highlight a hometeam or awayteam space using the arrow keys
and press ENTER. All of the teams will be displayed. Choose a team with the
arrow keys and press ENTER. Teams with an asterisk next to it have already
been chosen that week. To blank out a team, press ENTER on the team and then
press F3.
Change the date the games are played by highlighting the date with the arrow
keys and pressing ENTER.
After the games are played scores can be entered by highlighting the home or
away score spaces and pressing ENTER. Type the score and press ENTER. After
scores are entered, players may not change their picks. To blank out a score,
press enter on a highlighted score space and then press F1.
** Caution **
If their are less than 14 games for a week, be sure the blank games are listed
at the bottom of that weeks schedule.
Saving and Loading Schedules
After editing a schedule or players picks the schedule must be saved. A
previously saved schedule and players picks can be retrieved by loading a
schedule.

schedules scores, choose clear scores. Analyzing techniques will be described
later which utilize the clear scores function.
Player Setup
After the schedule has been setup the players picks can be entered. To add
players to the game choose Player Picks and press F1 on a blank space. The
user will be prompted for a name. To edit names, press F1 on a name and press
ENTER when finished.

be prompted for the week to edit. Select the week by using the right and left
arrow keys to increment or decrement the week. Press ENTER on the selected
week. Weeks may also be changed after one has been selected by using the page
up and down keys.
To select a winner for a game, highlight a game with the up and down arrow
keys and move the check mark with the left and right arrow keys. This should
be done for all of the games. Game winners may not be reselected after the
games have been played (game scores will show).
The game rankings are listed to the left of each game. The games the player
is most confident about winning should have the higher rankings. The games a
player feels will be close should have the lower rankings. A player will win
the amount of points assigned to each game if the player's chosen team for
that game wins. The object of the game is to score the most points in a week
or football season. Rankings are edited by highlighting the rank to change
and pressing ENTER. Select the new rank with the right and left arrow keys
and press ENTER. Game rankings may not be reselected after the games have
been played (game scores will show).

Reports
Their are a total of six reports in Football Challenge. However, only one of
them is functional in the demo version.
Weekly Players Picks Report - Functional.
This report will first list the selected weeks schedule. Each team will be
uniquely numbered from 1 to 28. After the schedule, a list of all the
participating players and their picks will be printed. Their should be 14
sets of numbers for each player, each representing the team selected and game
ranking. The number for the team selected will correspond to the numbered
teams at the top of the report.
Weekly Player Scores Report - Nonfunctional.
This report will first list the selected weeks football schedule. Each team
will be uniquely numbered from 1 to 28. After the schedule, a list of all the
participating players and points won/lost for each game will be printed.
Their should be 14 columns of numbers which represent how much each player
won/lost each game. Additional columns will show the total points won, lost,
and the win/loss record for each player.
Total Player Scores Report - Nonfunctional.
Before the report prints, the user must select which week the report should
start and end from. This report will list all the participating players along
with other columns of numbers for the weeks between and including the start
and end weeks. The first column will be the number of points won. The second
column will be the number of points lost. The third column will be the
win/loss record.
Weekly Team Schedule Report - Nonfunctional.
This report will print out the selected weekly schedule. This is a useful
form for players who do not wish to interface with the computer to make their
picks. The forms can easily be filled out and given to the Football Challenge
game operator to enter into the software.
Team Statistics Report - Nonfunctional.
This report will print out statistics analyzed by the software for each of the
football teams. These statistics may aid players in determining their weekly
picks and rankings for games. The statistics are based on wins, losses,
scores and home and away games.
Analyze Players Report - Nonfunctional.
This unique report will analyze all of the players picks and rankings together
for a selected week. This should be run after all the player picks are
entered, but before the game results are entered. The report will print out
which teams each players should route for in order to maximize win/loss points
between the other players which represents the number of weeks a player scored
the most points. The software will also go through every win/loss combination
for the selected week to count which player wins the most times. The meaning
of this number is left up to the interpretation of the user.
Edit Setup
The setup section will allow the user to adjust the color palette for the
software. The colors are saved and loaded each time the software is run in a
file called FOOT.CFG. To set the colors back to the default colors, erase the
FOOT.CFG file before running FOOT.EXE.
Load Setup
The user may load in a predefined color setup.
Save Setup
The user may save a software defined color setup.
