  9.      This 1994POOL game requires following:
  10.    * VGA or better
  11.    * 386/486 or better
  12.    * 580kb Base Memory

  14.    Optional: Sound Blaster Compatible/Gravis Ultrasound for digital sound
  15.    Note: If you have a fast PC, such as 486+, you can use digital speaker,
  16.      which uses same sounds as sound cards, but play them to speaker.

  20. | 2. How to Install and Run 1994POOL |

  23.    1. Run Install.exe (if you got it from the floppy disk)
  24.       Or copy all the files to Hard Disk.
  25.    2. Change directory to where game is installed.  (e.g. cd c:\1994POOL)
  26.    3. Run Setup.exe to setup the game (Such as Sound card, Memory, etc)
  27.    4. Run 1994POOL.EXE
  28.    5. At title screen, you will have 3 options.
  29.       a. Begin the game.
  30.       b. See HI-score.
  31.       c. Exit to dos.
  32.       Press left mouse button to activate each option.
  33.    6. Select number of player, Beginner/Intermediate/Master mode,
  34.       sound option, and pool table.  Then, press bottom button to begin!
  35.    7. Press HELP button for the game rules and more instructions!
  36.    8. Enjoy the game!

  42.    Q. The game doesn't run!  It gives Not Enough Base Memory error!
  43.  
  44.    A. This 1994POOL game requires at least 580KB Base Memory in which you
  45.       will get more memory by removing TSRs, such as those programs that
  46.       are loaded during computer boot-up.  To increase base memory, try
  47.       boot with clean-disk (to make clean-boot disk, use FORMAT A: /S).
  48.       Also you may want to try to remove some TSRs that are loaded from
  49.       AUTOEXEC.BAT file in hard drive.

  52.    Q. Mouse doesn't appear in the game.  (or some lines appear across the
  53.       screen.)
  54.  
  55.    A. This game requires 100% Microsoft(tm) compatible mouse.  Even for some
  56.       mouse drivers that claim 100% compatible, they may not support high
  57.       resolution graphics for this game.  It is not the mouse that does
  58.       not support, but it's the "mouse driver" that did not implement
  59.       all the necessary functions.  I suggest that you change to different
  60.       mouse drivers.  Probably you have only one mouse driver on your
  61.       system, so if you know anyone who has IBM computer, ask for his/her
  62.       mouse driver, and try to run the game with different mouse driver.
  63.       In autoexec.bat, you will see mouse.com, gmouse, kmouse, amouse, etc.
  64.       Comment those out by adding "REM", for example, originally
  65.       "c:\mouse\mouse.com" may be changed to "rem c:\mouse\mouse.com",
  66.       and then add this line. "c:\mouse\xmouse.com", where xmouse.com is
  67.       the new name for a new mouse driver.  If it still doesn't work,
  68.       you will have to find other mouse drivers.

  70.       For shareware version, you might have got 'gmouse.com'.  Just run this
  71.       new mouse driver and try the game.  If mouse still gives problem,
  72.       please contact us for another mouse drivers.

  76.    Q. When I run the game under windows, the program terminates.  Why?
  77.  
  78.    A. I recommend you to exit windows, and run the game in standard DOS.
  79.       If you still want to run the game under window, please change sound
  80.       mode(sound card, digital speaker mode) to normal speaker mode in
  81.       Setup.exe.  Then, the game will run fine.

  84.    Q. Setup.exe doesn't detect my sound card!
  85.  
  86.    A. This game support 100% Sound Blaster compatibles Music card, and
  87.       Gravis Ultrasound card.  Make sure your Sound Card supports Sound
  88.       Blaster, and load appropriate driver if necessary.  However,
  89.       SB-emulation may not work since this game does not use native mode,
  90.       but uses DMA operation for sound and music.

  93.    Q. When I switch to 'Speaker Digital' mode, the speaker just makes a lot
  94.       of noise-like sound when playing the game!
  95.  
  96.    A. 'Speaker Digital' option in Setup.exe was intended to be used only
  97.       with high-speed computers, such as 386-33, 486, 586+(Pentium), etc.
  98.       Even 386 with 16Mhz speed is not fast enough to support digitized sound
  99.       for internal speaker.  If you don't have sound card, then choose
  100.       'Speaker Normal' option which does not use digitized sound.

  103.    Q. For the SB compatible sound card, the music stops right after some
  104.       sound...
  105.  
  106.    A. Probably you have wrong IRQ number.  If you haven't install with
  107.       your disk that came with sound card, I recommend to install it.
  108.       However, you may change by running Setup.exe, and change IRQ.
  109.       The default is set to 7(most common), but try to change to 5 which
  110.       is pretty common as well.

  113.    Q. When I play music, everything slows down, even mouse!
  114.  
  115.    A. The generated music is a high-quality digital music which requires
  116.       high burden of the CPUs, which 386/486+ or better is a minimum.
  117.       Please turn Music Enable option off in Setup.exe if you experience
  118.       problems with music.
  119.       Also, try NOT to change 'TURBO' button during or before the game
  120.       start.  If you have changed your computer's turbo button, try to
  121.       reboot and run the game again.

  124.    Q. Program hangs when I play with 'Speaker Digital' option in Setup.exe!
  125.  
  126.    A. Again, for slow computers such as 386-16,20, etc, computer may not
  127.       catch up with heavily digitized sound to the speaker.  Turn off this
  128.       option, and choose 'Speaker Normal' option in Setup.exe.

  131.    Q. Program says VGA is not found!
  132.  
  133.    A. Probably your video card is CGA/EGA etc.  This program requires 100%
  134.       VGA video card, with VGA monitor.

  137.    Q. The ball flickers, and disappear when collided with balls, and ball
  138.       moves very slow!
  139.  
  140.    A. This program was tested on slow 386 computers, and ball flickered
  141.       when used with QEMM, EMM386, Cache OFF(in CMOS setup), other TSRs,
  142.       etc.  Try to remove some of the QEMM, EMM386, 386Max from the computer,
  143.       (by simply booting up with clean-disk, or put 'REM' in front of
  144.        'Device = C:\DOS\EMM386.....' statement in CONFIG.SYS and re-boot.)
  145.       Also turn off 'Speaker Digital' option when experiencing flickerings.
  146.       Also, if you run this program under window, it will be a lot faster
  147.       to run through standard DOS. (exit window, and type '1994POOL').

  150.    Q. The game ask whether to run this program since 386/486 is not
  151.       found!  But I am sure my computer is 386/486!
  152.  
  153.    A. Code for detecting 386/486 may not work for every computer.  However,
  154.       if you are sure your computer is 386/486+, then choose 'y' to run
  155.       anyway.

  169.    Q. What is shareware?  What does 'register this game' mean?
  170.  
  171.    A. This game is distributed freely as "shareware", which means
  172.       "try before you buy" program.  There is almost no-functional difference
  173.       between shareware and registered(or commercial) version.  However,
  174.       you will get more options such as full 100 levels, all various shape
  175.       pool tables, and receive future shareware games by mail free.
  176.       You will automatically be on our mailling-list to receive first
  177.       future shareware games.  We encourage that you copy this game to
  178.       your friend, upload to BBS, etc. as long as no files are removed
