  30.   Why is it that people who hate those of us who get a kick out of the
  31. hobby of monitoring like to use prejudicial and hysterical words to
  32. describe us?  Last time I checked there was no such thing as 'electronic
  33. voyurismm in the Calif. Penal Code.

  39. I think you need a lesson on just how REAL crimes are comitted.  I have
  40. had a fair amount of Law Enforcement training and I know of only a very
  41. few cases where monitoring equipment was ever used.

  49. Jim, I used to work for a large department store... let me set you
  50. straight about a few facts.
  51.  
  52. 1) Most shoplifters were NEVER caught.  The reason this was so was
  53. because of the large number of them at any given time.
  54.  
  55. 2) The only shoplifters that were caught were caught because they 
  56. were obviously doing something 'unusual'. It is generally obvious when
  57. someone is messing around with an earpiece or diddling with the squelch
  58. control under his coat.  Also if you are working security you can always
  59. walk by a suspect and key your mike.... (Vissions of proximity feedback
  60. and a suspect quickly snatching the earpiece away.)  [DO NOT DO THIS IF
  61. YOU WORK SECURITY OR ELSEWHERE IN THE L.E. PROFESSION.  HEARING DAMAGE
  62. MAY OCCUR TO THE SUSPECT. actually dont do it wherever you work/play.]

  64. 3) The largest 'shrinkage' (denoting loss of inventory) was from
  65. employee theft, not shoplifters.  The employees didn't NEED to have
  66. help from something like a freq. list as they know who security is and 
  67. generally the ins and outs of the security systems.
  68.  
  69. 4) The professional or accomplished shoplifters were very rarely caught.
  70. These people know exactly what they are doing and have no need of a
  71. scanner.  I will not reveal details, but there are very simple things
  72. that you can do to keep from being spotted, or arrested.
  73.  
  74. 5) The sheer number of shoplifters makes it totally impossible to catch
  75. them all or even a good percentage of them.  If one comes in with a
  76. scanner he only makes himself more obvious.  When watching for
  77. shoplifters you begin to notice things.  A young person with a 'hearing
  78. aide' attached to his ear is generally out of place.

  208. One night a man had a dream, and in  his dream he reviewed
  209. the footprints he had taken in his life.  He looked and

  211. that he had traveled there was one set of footprints, but
  212. over the plains and down the hills, there were two sets of
  213. footprints, as if someone had walked by his side.

  245. Today (Sunday 12/3) at around 2230 GMT, a station signing S01MZ was at the
  246. center of quite a pileup on 15 meters CW.  I managed to get through the pileup,
  247. so I'm quite curious what "S01" is.
