  3. TS-940 - SUBSCRIBERS'S INQUIRY REGARDING DIGITAL DISPLAY
  4. DISAPPEARANCE
  5. I have a Kenwood TS-940S.  It has been operating perfectly
  6. until just lately.
  7. When you push the Power Button in, the digital display shows
  8. but immediately disappears.  While it is in this mode, the
  9. automatic antenna tuner does not function and, of course,
  10. there are no signals coming in, but the voice synthesizer
  11. reads the frequencies.  The last time I tried it with the
  12. power button pushed in all the time was 2-1/2 hours before
  13. any signals came through from the antenna.  Then it seems by
  14. releasing the power switch and then pushing it right back in
  15. again is the only way signals will come through.
  16. Could you give me some idea what component would be at fault
  17. or what is wrong or where to look for the trouble?  I do have
  18. a Service Manual.  I have been a subscriber to the Kenwood
  19. Newsletter for several years.  (ED Note:  We have seen this
  20. problem many times.  Unfortunately we have no permanent fix.
  21. However, the problem seems to go away if you unplug all the
  22. connectors on the PLL and Logic Board to reseat them.
  23. Perhaps one of our subscribers has found a permanent fix for
