DATA FILE EDITOR
1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The data file editor is used for writing and editing
files used for TWO, ONE, IMS, and IMP commands. When used by
the program during response analysis, a least mean square
polynomial, up to tenth order, is used to define the data.
The order of the fit is determined by the program, preventing
the user from selecting an order that would result in severe
oscillations in the data fitting. The polynomial coefficients
are generated when exiting the network editor. Since data
fitting is valid only between the endpoints of the supplied
data, the user is advised not to rely on any results that are
derived through extrapolation.
When first entering from the network editor, and when
starting a new file from within the editor, the program will
ask the user to establish whether or not the subsequent ses-
sion is to be for two-port data, to be used for TWO commands.
Any answer other than "Y" will cause the editor to operate in
the one-port/impedance mode.
When entering or modifying data, the user will be promp-
ted by the screen. The frequency is always entered in GHz.
In entering two-port data, the S-parameters defining the ele-
ment, normalized to 50 ohms, are entered in polar form. No
provision has been made for other types of two-port parameters
(y-, h-, or z-parameters). In the case of one-port data, the
reflection coefficients, normalized to 50 ohms, are entered
in polar form. For impedances, the resistances and reactances
are entered in ohms. Up to 20 discrete points may be entered,
and they must be arranged in ascending order by frequency.
Data files are intended to be saved on disk. When exit-
ing the editor, the data in memory is irretrivably lost.
Therefore, if you intend to keep the data file that you have
written, you must save it on disk prior to exiting the editor.
2. MENU OPTIONS
Except for the following, the menu options available
function in the same manner as do those for the network editor,
to which you should refer to for assistance. The exceptions
are:
LIST DATA FILE ..... Lists the entire data file in
two pages. The first page lists
S11 and S22. The second page
lists S21 and S12. In both
listings, the user will be asked
if a hard copy is desired.
