PLOTTER.DOC
Environmental Optics Inc. Mark V Photoplotter Specifications:
Photoplotters represent a superior technique for the preparation of
phototooling for the fabrication of printed circuits. Compared to pen
plotters, photoplotters draw with a beam of light and do not skip or smear.
Since they produce one to one art-work directly, further photographic reduction
is not required, eliminating the possibility that lens distortions will produce
misalignments. Because this is a flat bed plotter, there is no accumulated
skew as can occur in pen plotters which move the paper back and forth under a
pen.
For several reasons, a photoplotter can keep up in performance with a much
faster pen plotter. Since plotting is the final size there is an immediate
gain over doing art-work 2X or 4X. Further, this photoplotter contains
apertures where a whole object, i.e. a component pad, is flashed onto the film
at once.
The Mark V is designed as a compromise between pen plotters which have the
above problems, and traditional photoplotters which are ten to fifty times as
expensive. While of lower precision than more expensive photoplotters, we
believe it offers sufficient precision for multi-layer and surface mount
boards.
The Mark V is light tight so that operation is possible with minimal dark room
facilities. All that is needed is a broom closet or similar space that can be
made dark while film is loaded.
The package includes a complete IBM compatible XT type computer which with the
addition of a color monitor is suitable for operation of the DROEGE software.
Included are a disk drive and adapter, 640k memory, serial and parallel ports,
a clock calender, and a color adapter.
