***** QUIKBBS Installation Guide to BB ver 2.7 ****
Quikbbs is a program written by N4HY to be used by a BBS sysop as a SERVER.
This program has been around for a while and is on many land line BBS. If
you are using BB ver 2.7 you can run this program from your WAKEUP.BB file.
To install proceed as follows.
In your WAKEUP.BB file add the following line :
==/==/== 1000 EX QUIKBBS.EXE
--------------------------------------------------
I run this program at 1000 hrs GMT (1am) local nightly.Print out is for a
two day schedule from that time.You can change to run once a week if you
like by changing parms in WAKEUP file, see notes in BB files.Then set data
in QTHBBS file for number of days to run this program.The EX command may
also be commanded in the local sysop window.To do so type EX QUIKBBS.EXE .
BB will display the following:
PGM = QUIKBBS.EXE
CMD =
Execute DOS processing started -- Memsize = 254128
Note memsize depends on your system memory when BB shells to DOS.All users
will be locked out and your status line will not update till program is
executed.This program takes several minutes on a 20 meg turbo AT without a
Co-processor, slower on an XT, be patient there is a lot of computation
going on.The output data is sent to a directory of your choice.I choose the
AMSAT directory with the file name of SATSKED.DAT , this is what a user would
download.
One word of warning run this program from your BB directory were you keep
the BB files.Though the EX command can have a PATH command QUIKBBS.EXE calls
two other files that the BB shell wont be able to find.ALL QBBS files must
be in the BB directory, an error message will be shown and BB will return to
DOS stopping BB from running otherwise.
Type BBS.MAN for doc. file on setting up QUIKBBS ........
