  1. PackCom Version 70 is now on PCEVE!
  2.  
  3. Enhancements include:
  4.  
  5. A new command ALT-B allows you to send a BREAK signal to the TNC.  This signal 
  6. is useful for returning to the Command Mode within the TNC.  The TNC will 
  7. return to the Command Mode regardless of whether it is in the Converse Mode or 
  8. Transparent Mode. 
  9.  
  10. The DayTime TNC parameter setting is now allowed at anytime within a Packcom 
  11. session.  Previously the DayTime command was sent to the TNC only during the 
  12. start-up of Packcom.  Now by using the command ALT-Y the DayTime parameter 
  13. within the TNC can be set at anytime.  When using the ALT-Y command the TNC is 
  14. automatically put into the Command Mode before issuing the DayTime command.

  16. The Macro Key Functions have been modified to allow keyboard commands (ALT-x) 
  17. to be used within the Macro Key Functions.  Within Macro Key Maintenance 
  18. keyboard commands are designated by the use of an '@'.  For example an '@B' 
  19. contained within a Macro will generate a BREAK signal over the communication 
  20. port.

  22.   I have only tested the following keyboard commands within the Macro Key 
  23.   Functions: @B for BREAK and @Y for SET TNC DAYTIME.  All other keyboard 
  24.   commands are enabled but I just have not gotten around to testing them or 
  25.   using them yet.  Let me know if some keyboard commands do not work or if any 
  26.   interesting uses for this feature exist.

  28.   Example uses for Macros are:  
  29.   F1  -  @B;     Command Mode F2  -  @BCONV; Converse Mode F3  -  @BT;

  31.   Transparent Mode Let me know of other good macros, and I will put them 
  32.   together in the semi documentation here.

  34. Key Word Scanning has been removed from the Configuration Menu and Placed on 
  35. its own menu accessed via command ALT-A.  
  36.  
  37.   Options 1 and 2 allow the Foreground and Background colors to be easily 
  38.   changed for Keyboard/Digi Echo Information or for Non-Header Information.  
  39.  
  40.   Option 3 allows access to the Key Word's to be Searched for and the 
  41.   maintenance of there associated colors and special effects.  
  42.  
  43.   Option 4 toggles the Key Word Special Effect's on and off.  This is to keep 
  44.   the noise level down if you don't want to here the alarms and beeps.  When 
  45.   Option 4 is toggled off it still allows the Key Word coloring to work.

  47.   Option 5 toggles both Key Word Special Effect's and Coloring on and off.  
  48.   This is used to disable all Key Word Special Effect's and Coloring from 
  49.   Options 1, 2 and 3.  Only coloring specified in the Configuration Parameters 
  50.   (ALT-I) will be in effect.  Also all buffering of data will be disabled and 
  51.   will flow unimpeded from the TNC to the PC screen.

  53. Option 2, Coloring of Non-Header Information is a new enhancement.  Non-Header 
  54. data are lines of text (ended by a carriage return) which do not contain the 
  55. Greater-Than symbol '>'.  These lines of text are USUALLY command responses
  56. returning from the TNC or Packets being receive from a connected station.  The 
  57. coloring of this information is useful when you are connected to another 
  58. station.  Your packets will be colored as specified in Option 1, Coloring of 
  59. Keyboard/Digi Information and the connected station will be colored as 
  60. specified in Option 2, Coloring of Non-Header Information. 
  61.     Noticed I said Non-Header Information USUALLY contains command responses or 
  62. connected station packets, this is not always the case.  Sometime extraneous 
  63. LF's or CR's are stuck into monitored packets which will be highlighted.  But 
  64. this is still a useful feature.

  67. Includes fixes for :

  69. Running out of disk space during a file capture no longer causes Packcom to 
  70. abend.  Packcom now correctly closes the capture file and continue normal 
  71. operation without capturing data to disk. 
  72.  
  73. Fixed apparent bug in the Directory Command (ALT-D).  Now when a Drive 
  74. designator followed by a colon (ex: 'A:') is entered for the DIR MASK, a 
  75. directory listing is displayed.  Actually there was not a bug in the Directory 
  76. Command, it was expecting a fully qualified Directory Mask (ex: 'A:*.*').  
  77. This routine has just been modified to append the '*.*' if an inputted 
  78. Directory Mask ends with a colon.
  79.  
  80. When/If Packcom abends and data is being transmitted from the TNC to the 
  81. PC via the RS-232 port.  The PC will no longer lock up and require a RESET.  A 
  82. User Written Error Handler has been installed that shuts down the interrupt 
  83. driven communication routines and leaves the PC in a stable state.

  85. During a file capture carriage-return/line-feed's (CR/LF) are now correctly 
  86. generated.

  88. The Date/Time Stamp generated within Packcom that is displayed on the screen 
  89. but not sent to TNC.  Has been modified so it will not clobber text that is 
  90. being sent to the PC from the TNC.  Basically it waits for the TNC to stop 
  91. sending, before generating the Date/Time Stamp.
