Hi Gordon,
Nice to speak with you just now. Sorry to get you so early in the morning but
I am never sure of the time difference hi.
I am sending you the configuration file which I have been experimenting with
for ZS6RYR-3 here at JHB. I have filled it with comments as an aid to a couple
of the guys at this end when they ahve also been experimenting. The comments
are those relating to features of the CONFIGUR.EXE that I found out the hard
way hi !
I hope the notes are of some use to you. As I said previously, I will write
up notes etc if I had a bit more insight into the system. I have included the
actual 'Hex' file produced by the Monitor for yr reference only.
Regarding our conversation re my looking after your interests here by levying
a nominal US$10 per copy. I will be only to pleased to do this. I only need a
copy of the code in a working state and I can I am sure get the ball rolling.
I look forward to getting the next version as from what you have told me, it
sounds very nice.
OK then, here goes with the bulk of this mail. 73 from this end and best
regards to Nancy + 1 and also to Tom.

*
* This is the configuration text file for ZS6RYR-3 at Southills, JHB, S Africa
*
* ZS6CBM 26 aug 1988
*
* The character * means that this line is a comment only.
* |
* <-------------'
*
* 1 Note referencing a bug which has been fixed in the CONFIGUR program
*
* 2 ditto
*
* 3 If there is one or more alternate route(s) for a call(s), then the
* alternate node(s) name(s) should be entered line by line after the
* statement 'Route To XYXABC'. The order in which they are entered
* determines the order in which they will be used as alternate routes
* i.e. The first node name will be tried first and if unsuccessful
* the second node name will be tried as the first alternate route. If
* this also fails, then the third node name will be tried as the
* second alternate route and so on.
*
* 4 When Routing calls to more than one Node, these Nodes must be the
* first to be declared in the list (that is, after the User Text) and
* in the same order as they appear as alternative routes [Order should
* Not be important anymore/tom]
* (see3 above)
*
* 5 The ROSE switch specifies that the telephone area and exchange codes
* be used for each switch's address.(In the USA) However,the telephone
* codes here in S Africa are such that a meaningful system is not
* possible. However, all is not lost because we can actually use the
* 3 figure Area Code as the first 3 digits and then simply add a 3
* digit serial number (starting at 001) to give the full 6 digit
* address required.
* Each additional switch in the same Area Code will be given a serial
* number incremented by 1
*
* eg 011001, 011002, 011003 etc.
*
* 6 The Node 'Coverage' is a list of all the exchange areas that the
* switch will accept as it's own.In other words,for example, ZS6RYR-3
* which has an address of 011001 can actually provide coverage of
* several other exchange areas within the 011 Area Code. These could
* entered in the 'coverage' list and will be accepted by ZS6RYR-3 as
* though they were 011001
*
* NOTE This feature is only applicable to ROSE switch networks which use
* ---- the exchange codes as part of each switch's address.
* So the coverage of each switch here in S Africa is simply it's own
* address !
*
*
* Area codes for S Africa as follows:-
*
* 011 JHB
* 012 PTA
* 013 Lydenburg/Witbank/All of the E Tvl
* 014 Harrismith
* 015 Pietersburg/Louis Trichardt/Messina
* 021 Capetown
* 031 Durban
* 033 PMB
* 034 Dundee/Newcastle
* 035 Richards Bay
* 036 Ladysmith
* 041 Port Elizabeth
* 043 East London
* 053 Kimberley
* 061 Windhoek
*
* 8 The DNIC (Data Network Identification Code) is as specified in
* CCITT Recommendation X.121 This means that it is a 4 figure code,
* the first 3 being the code for a particular country and the last
* figure being the ID number of the network within that country.
* For the ROSE Network here in S Africa, the last figure is always 0
* This version of the Monitor does not seem to support
* more than one other DNIC. This limitation will be fixed in later
* versions. [FULL DNIC SUPPORT NOW/Tom]
* Therefore ZS6RYR-3 is only configured to pass on a DNIC of 092 for
* Lesotho. Future DNIC codes for Swaziland and Zimbabwe are noted as
* comments at this stage.
*
*
* DNIC's for Southern Africa as follows:-
* 631 Angola
* 640 Tanzania
* 643 Mozambique
* 645 Zambia
* 648 Zimbabwe
* 649 Namibia
* 650 Malawi
* 651 Lesotho
* 652 Botswana
* 653 Swaziland
* 655 South Africa
*
*
* >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> OK, HERE WE GO !!! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
*
* The VERIFY Command will print stuff to screen as it is parsed,
* and NOVERIFY turns it off.../tom
*
* FIRSTLY, DECLARE THE DEFAULT PARAMETERS FOR THIS SWITCH.
*
* L3W is Level 3 Windows (in this case,4. Similar to AX25 frames)
Default L3W 4
* If a circuit is out of order, Timeout is seconds delay before a retry of this
* circuit is attempted.
Default TimeOut 300
* MaxVC is Max Virtual Circuits (ie the max number of users) that can be
* simultaneously supported.
Default MaxVC 20
* Port 0 is the TNC-2 radio port or port B on the DR-200. This port will be
* used by THIS ROSE switch if it receives a 'connect request' for a station
* other than another switch.
* In other words, if you call a PBBS via a single switch, the switch will call
* the PBBS on Port 0 regardless. Also, if you call a station via more than one
* switch, the last (destination) switch will call the station using Port 0.
* So make sure that Port 0 is connected to the correct Radio !!
* In future versions of the ROSE code, this limitation will be enhanced.
Default Port 0
* NOW DECLARE THE ESSENTIAL PARAMETERS OF THIS SWITCH
* DNIC is the Data Network Identification Code as per CCITT X.121
* See the complete Southern Africa DNIC list later in this file.
