Setup help for BBSERV.EXE (c) 1991 Freeman M. Crosby W1NPR (SRQLAN)
***** note ***** New setup instructions in QUICK.DOC will let you get
setup easily. You may now put BBSERV in it's own directory.
1.BBSERV.EXE is a remote file server for use with the AA4RE BBS programs
from Version 2.11 (c) 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991 by H. Roy Engenhausen.
2.Setup is done with the editing of PARMS.BB , read parms.hlp or select
it from the menu on SETSERVE.EXE and running SETSERVE.EXE
3.All "PUBLIC" directories must have an \UPL\ subdirectory in their path.
These are not to be listed in PARMS.BB. All uploaded files go there .
You must set SUBDIRECTORY_OK = NO in your regular parms.bb section !
These will be created for you if you answer "Y" to create directories in
setserve.exe
An error message will be generated if these do not exist.
3. SETSERVE.EXE will guide you through the simple setup needed to get going.
4. Edit PARMS.BB, Run SETSERVE.EXE, Run BBSERV.EXE using WAKEUP.BB with
EL BBSERV.EXE every hour or so before forwarding.
5. The first time it runs it will take a while to read all your files &
check for messages to the server. After this it will only look at new
additions to your messages. You may reset it to 0 again with BBSERV.EXE /R
6. Edit all .TRL ( trailer ) . REP ( reply ) files to suit your needs.
7. Combined with ACTION.BB in V2.11 the AA4RE BBS is very versitile for file
handling & message routing. Build your databases by routing messages into
them using the features of ACTION.BB .
