PLAYING IT SAFE
While we take every precaution to ensure that only virus-free and uncorrupted files are provided on the CD, you can never be too careful. You should install anti-virus software on your computer and keep it up-to-date by regularly downloading the latest virus ╘signatures╒ from the anti-virus software maker╒s Web site. You should virus-check all software before installing it and also regularly back up any of your important files using your CD burner, floppy disk drive or other removable storage media.
UPDATES
Every few weeks Gourmet Traveller be putting together an update of the latest news and events as well as new articles. Feel free to click on the Update button at any time to check if any updates are available (an internet connection is necessary).
FUTURE EDITIONS OF GOURMET TRAVELLER LIVEPLAYER
When you install future editions of the Gourmet Traveller Liveplayer, your Liveplayer software will be upgraded and all items in your archive will be retained.
KNOWN ISSUES
PRINTING - MAC AND PC
If you're printing an article from the Liveplayer that is more than one page, it may take longer than expected (times of up to 5 minutes have been recorded). Please be patient.
EMAILING - MAC AND PC
Due to some network restrictions in some office environments, emailing from the Liveplayer may not be possible. Speak to your network administrator.
QUICKTIME - MAC AND PC
The Quicktime installers included on the CD are not part of the Liveplayer software. We have included them for your convenience. If you have any Quicktime related issues, you should find answers at www.apple.com/quicktime
VIDEO PLAYBACK - PC ONLY
On some computers the video in the more info layout may not play. This is a Quicktime issue and not a problem with the Liveplayer software.
VIDEO PLAYBACK - MAC AND PC
On slower computers you may experience poor quality video playback. Good quality video playback requires a reasonably fast processor and sufficient free ram (see the recommended requirements on the CD cover).
UPDATES - MAC ONLY
In rare circumstances the update feature may freeze the computer. If this happens hold Apple, Option and press Escape to force quit the Liveplayer.
MONITOR SETTINGS - PC ONLY
If your monitor is set to a resolution less than 1024 x 768, Liveplayer will attempt to adjust your monitor to 1024 x 768. If Liveplayer cannot set your monitor to 1024 x 768 then follow these steps:
1 Minimise Liveplayer (top right hand corner, next to Exit button)
2 Right click on the desktop
3 Select Properties (last item in the menu)
4 In the dialog box select the Settings tab
5 Adjust the Desktop Area slider to 1024 x 768 [or use your video cards settings dialog]
6 Click OK
7 Choose Liveplayer from the taskbar
Note: Frequently adjusting your monitor settings while the Liveplayer is running may cause it to crash.
INSTALLATION - MAC AND PC
The installer can only run from the CD. Please do not copy the contents of the CD to your computer. If you do attempt this, Liveplayer will not run.
UNINSTALL - MAC AND PC
To uninstall Liveplayer please read the Uninstall file located in the same folder as the Liveplayer. On a PC the default location for the Liveplayer folder is C:\Program Files.
On a Mac the default location for the Liveplayer folder is in your Applications folder on your hard disk.
AD PANEL - MAC AND PC
Each Liveplayer CD is sponsored by a number of advertisers. At the end of the sponsorship period the ad panel will revert to a static image. All other Liveplayer functions will continue.
