PRODUCT PUBLICITY DATABASE
If you send a press release to the right trade publications, most are willing
print FREE publicity about your product. The Product Publicity Database (PPD)
is a DBMS which will help you obtain FREE publicity for your computer related
product(s).
PPD accomplishes this by giving you direct access to the names, addresses, and
phone numbers of over 400 computer magazines, newpapers, and newletters through-
out the United States. It also allows you to print labels, envelopes, and form
letters so you can send your press releases to hundreds of publications with a
minimum amount of effort. However, the data in this database file is only demon-
stration data. We suggest that you run this demo version, and if you like the
opportunity that it offers you, send us your $29 registration fee, and we will
send you an active file with over 400 media sources within 10 working days.
LOADING THE PRODUCT PUBLICITY SOFTWARE ON YOUR COMPUTER
To load PPD on your system, you must first make sure that your system meets
the minimum requirments to run the package. They are: An IBM PC/XT/AT or 100%
compatible--with at least 512K RAM and a hard disk drive. You should also be
aware that this PACKAGE WILL NOT WORK ON ANY TYPE OF RAMDISK.
FIRST STEP:
Create a subdirectory on your hard drive called MEDIA, then change directory
to the MEDIA subdirectory. Your PC/DOS or MS/DOS manual will show you how
to create and change directories.
SECOND STEP:
Copy your PPD diskette(s) to the MEDIA subdirectory.
THIRD STEP:
While in the MEDIA subdirectory, type CHKFILES and press <ENTER>. This prog-
ram will make certain your data files are loaded, and will also verify that
your AUTOEXEC and CONFIG.SYS has the parameters needed to run PPD. If not,
it will automatically update these files and ask you to reboot.
Note: Whenever you load PPD on a different computer, you will have to go
through the above three steps.

FIRST CONSIDERATION
When you initially run PPD, you will be required to complete a system
setup screen. The package will not properly function until the below areas
have been filled-in:
1) The <YOUR NAME> and/or <YOUR COMPANY> areas.
2) The <DISK DRIVE> and <DIRECTORY> areas: Default for these two items are
C:\MEDIA and should already be filled-in. You do have the ability of
overriding the default.
These are the only areas that MUST be completed. However, we do strongly
recommend that you complete the entire screen to insure desired results
throughout execution of the program.
SECOND CONSIDERATION
Whenever you wish to remove a date from a date field, move your cursor to
the first character of the date field, then while holding down your CTRL
key, press the Y key.
THIRD CONSIDERATION
This program is very easy to learn. If you run it a few times, using the
various functions, you should master it very quickly.
The Product Publicity Database comes with a built-in registration form. If you
feel that the $29 registration fee that we charge is reasonable, complete the
form and send it in with your check or money order. You will receive an active
database file within 10 working days, and you can start getting FREE ADVERTISEMENT
for your computer products.
