Press the PgDn Key
AUTO-PAGING (See HELP file AUTO_PAG)
When you press CtrlP, (or F1 in the menu shown above, you will see
that a line looking like the one below will be inserted in your text
at the location where each page break would occur in the text if you
printed the file from inside PC-TYPE+. If any User-Page lines
(described below) existed, the count for the page break position
would start over at 0.
Auto-Page lines are useful to see quickly where your page breaks will
occur but should normally be removed before saving your file to disk.
DELETE AUTO-PAGING
CtrlD (or F10 on the menu above) will remove all the Auto-Page markers
in your text.
Press the PgDn Key
USER-PAGING (See HELP file USER_PAG)
If you press AltP (or F2 on the menu above), a line like the one shown
below will appear in your text immediately below the cursor. When you
print this file from within PC-TYPE+, a new page would begin at the
word "print" on the line above.
The +0 implies that the page number assigned to the new page should be
incremented by one + "0". In other words, the page numbering will
continue normally. If +1 was inside the line, then the next page
would be incremented one more than normal, i.e., a page number would
be skipped.
If no + sign exists, e.g., 46 appears inside the line, then the next
page will assume the number which appears. To modify this number, you
must hold down the Alt key and press %. Try it. (First you must move
the cursor to the User-Page Line.)
Press the PgDn Key
NO REFORMAT LINES
If you press F3 and F4 in the menu shown at the top, the special lines
below will be placed in your text below the cursor.
Move the cursor the to the asterisk (*) and
press the CtrlR key.
As you can see, these special lines do not permit the
AUTO-Reformatting commands, CtrlR, CtrlJ, and CtrlV. You may use the
reformat commands which require blocking, but not the automatic ones.
This is particularly useful if you define keystroke macros which use
the AUTO-Reformat commands, but you want to make sure that you protect
the exact positioning of certain text areas.
Press the PgDn Key
New Header and New Footer Definition Lines
If you press F5 and F6 on the menu at the the top of the file you will
get the special lines shown below. These special lines inform
PC-TYPE+ that the Heading and/or Footing text should be changed at
this point in the document to the information contained between the
Begin and End Special Lines. (See HELP files HEADERS and FOOTERS).
New Heading
New Footing
Press the PgDn Key
Paragraph Marker (See the HELP file PARA_DEF)
PC-TYPE+ normally assumes a new paragraph begins with the first text
following a blank line and ends when a new blank line begins.
If you do not want to separate your paragraphs with a blank line,
use the Paragraph Marker Special line seen below, obtained by pressing
F7 on the menu shown at the top of this file.
These lines will not be printed when you print your file, but will be
recognized by PC-TYPE+ as a blank line.
Press the PgDn Key
Mail Merge Definition (See the HELP file MAILMERG)
If you press F8 on the menu shown at the top of this file, the special
lines below and the data inside them will be inserted in your text.
.ftype Mail or PC-File or Keyboard
.fspec TEST.HDR
.field Vname
.match Vname,"string"
.force Vname,"string"
This information informs PC-TYPE+ about the type of Mail Merge data to
find, where it is to be found, etc. The information inside provides a
template which you must modify to your needs. This information will
not be printed.
Press the PgDn Key
No Print Area
If you press F9 on the menu shown at the top of this file, the Special
Lines shown below will be inserted into your text. You may enter any
text you wish between these Special Lines, normally reminders to
yourself, and they will not be printed with the rest of the text when
you print the file.
They will always be visible to you when you edit the file in which you
placed such comments.
Comments to yourself which will not be printed.
