* (See MARKING) Press the PgDn Key
Normally you will only be centering one line or part of one line.
However, for ragged margins on both sides you may center entire
paragraphs.
Press the PgDn Key
AltV with AltL Blocking
AltV with AltL blocking is the most common type of centering.
Move the cursor to the line below, and press AltL.
CENTER THIS LINE
Now press AltV. Notice that the information on the line will be
centered between the LEFT and RIGHT margins specified on your TAB
line.
Press the PgDn Key
CtrlV with CtrlB Blocking
This is the next most common type of centering. Move the cursor to
the right of the '>' below and press CtrlB. Move the cursor to the
left of the '<' below and press CtrlB again. Now press CtrlV.
> Center this block of data < (This data will not move)
The 'L' and 'R' define the blocked area and may be moved as you wish.
For now, just press enter. The text is centered in the blocked area.
By redefining the location of L and R, you can center and move the
the information as well. Try it.
Press the PgDn Key
AltV with CtrlB Blocking
This centering option is seldom used. Move the cursor to the right of
the '>' below and press CtrlB. Move the cursor to the left of the '<'
below and press CtrlB again. Now press AltV.
> Center this block of data < (This data will be included)
As you can see, all the data on the line is first reformatted to fit
inside the blocked area. Then each line of the reformatted
information is centered within the block.
Press the PgDn Key
CtrlV with No Blocking, with AltL or with CtrlL
CtrlV will operate identically with the blockings specified in the
title, except that with AltL and CtrlL, a warning message will first
be issued since the blocking will be cleared before doing the
centering.
CtrlV in each instance will reformat the entire paragraph in which the
cursor is located, and then center each of the reformatted lines
between the left and right margin indicators on the TAB line seen
below. Place the cursor here (*) and press CtrlV.
Notice that the cursor will be placed at the beginning of the next
paragraph when the centering of the paragraph is completed.
Press the PgDn Key
Special NO Reformat Lines with Centering
If you opted to press CtrlV with no blocking, (or AltL or CtrlL
blocking), and the cursor was between the special NO Reformat lines as
seen below, no action would take place. These lines are primarily
used to protect an area from being reformatted if you use a Keystroke
Macro to reformat your entire file.
Place the cursor in this area
and press CtrlV.
Notice that nothing is changed.
The other types of centering, however, will be honored inside the NO
reformat area. These lines are obtained by pressing F8, then F7 and
finally F3 or F4.
Press F4 to Return to the HELP Menu
