  3. Greetings.

  5. The files which are contained on this diskette are too large to fit on a
  6. single diskette as individual files.  Therefore, they have been packed
  7. into the archive file which you have probably already discovered.  Also on
  8. the diskette is a copy of the command "PKXARC.EXE" which you can use to
  9. unpack the archive into the individual files which you can actually use!
  10.  
  11. If you are unpacking the archive onto your hard disk, I suggest that you
  12. first create a subdirectory for these music files:
  13.  
  14.     mkdir  c:\music
  15.     cd     c:\music
  16.     a:pkxarc  a:spkmusic
  17.     dir    *.spk
  18.  
  19. If you only have a floppy disk system, then you will need to extract only
  20. a few of the files from the archive at a time, as they will not all fit on
  21. one 360K floppy disk.  To decide which ones to do first, you'll want to
  22. get a listing of all the members of the archive, and then copy some of them
  23. to another diskette.  The following is just an example, which you will
  24. probably need to change based upon your system!

  26.     a:pkxarc  -v a:spkmusic
  27.     rem  Read the list you just got and pick a couple of items
  28.     a:pkxarc  a:spkmusic willtell.spk ihold.spk funeral.spk
  29.     rem  The above command extracts the three music files shown
  30.  
  31. Once you have extracted one or more of the music files from the archive, you
  32. can get them to play (assuming that you have the Speaker Device Driver
  33. installed!) by entering a command line like:

  35.     copy  maplleaf.spk spkr:
