EXPORTING DEFAULTS
┌────────────────────────────┐ You might visualize defaults as

Press the PgDn Key
FILE NAMING CONVENTIONS
Defaults are saved to disk at the path specification you supply with
the filename you supply. If you save all of the defaults they will
have a file extension of .PCT -or- if you save only the printer
defaults the file will have the extension .PRN .
You never have to worry about the file extension - PC-TYPE+ will take
care of that for you.
It is usually reasonable to keep all of these default files in one
location so that they will be readily available when needed.
Press the PgDn Key
SAVING DEFAULTS
At any point when saving defaults, the process may be stopped by
pressing Esc. (In this file, press Esc to see the next instruction.)
The most common way to save defaults is to press F8 and then F3.
Try it - you should get the message:
Save Printer defaults or All defaults? (press P or A)
At this point press P or A as desired. You will then get the message:
Save to File or to PC-TYPE? (press F or P)
If you press F you will begin the process of saving the defaults to a
disk file. If you press P you will begin the process of making the
defaults permanent within PC-TYPE+ itself.
Press the PgDn Key
MAKING DEFAULTS PERMANENT (P Option)

When you select the P option, the defaults currently in PC-TYPE+ in
memory on your PC will be written to the PCTYPE.EXE file on disk.
Press the PgDn Key
DEFINING WHERE PC-TYPE+ IS LOCATED
At this point it is assumed you pressed A or P to save ALL defaults or
Printer unique defaults, and then pressed P to save the defaults to
PC-TYPE+ permanently. It is now necessary to locate PC-TYPE+ on disk
so the defaults from PC-TYPE+ in memory can be placed into PC-TYPE+ on
the disk. You will now be asked the question:
Enter Save-Defaults Path - then press F10 (Null field = Current Dir)
and you should enter the path to PC-TYPE+. (If you leave the field
blank, your default directory will be assumed.)
PC-TYPE+ will then present you with a list of all the .EXE files in
the path you entered. By using the TAB (or Shift TAB keys), move the
selection bar to the name of the PC-TYPE+ file and press F10. You
can change the name PC-TYPE+ - or have more than one version - hence
the selection. Your defaults will then be permanently installed.
Press the PgDn Key
SAVING DEFAULTS to a FILE on DISK (F Option)

When you select the F option, the defaults currently in PC-TYPE+ in
memory on your PC will be written to a file you define on disk.
Press the PgDn Key
DEFINING where to SAVE the DEFAULTS FILE
At this point it is assumed you pressed A or P to save ALL defaults or
Printer unique defaults, and then pressed F to save the defaults to
disk. It is now necessary to define where to save the defaults.
You will now be asked the question:
Enter Save-Defaults Path - then press F10 (Null field = Current Dir)
and you should enter the path to where you want to save them. (If you
leave the field blank, your default directory will be assumed.) You
will then be presented with a field marked "New File" and other fields
corresponding to the names of previously saved defaults on this path
of the same type (i.e., Printer Unique or ALL defaults), along with
the message:
Select by tabbing to desired file - then press F10 (or press Esc to Exit)
Press the PgDn Key
With the TAB key (or the ShiftTAB key combination to move in the
opposite direction), move the selection bar over the appropriate field
and press F10.
If you select a previously defined name, then your current defaults
will replace the defaults in the selected file.
If you select "New File" and press F10, the "New File" name will be
cleared from the field and you will be issued the message:
Enter new File Name
at which point you may type in the name you desire and press F10 (or
Enter).
In either case, your defaults will be saved to disk and by pressing a
key you will be returned to your editing session.
Press the PgDn Key
SAVING DEFAULTS from the MODIFY DEFAULTS PANEL
Assume you modified some defaults by going to the MODIFY DEFAULTS
panel. You will be asked before you are returned to your editing
session if you wish to save the modifications you made with the
question:
Save Modifications? (Press Y or N)
If you press the 'Y' key in response to this question, the same series
of questions described above will be issued.
If you press the 'N' key in response, you will be returned to your
editing session. THE CHANGES YOU MADE WILL NOT BE LOST. You do not
have to save the defaults if you don't want to. They will still be in
effect when you return to editing but will be lost when you leave the
current editing session.
