- Directions for using the Quick View Desk Accessory by Dan Crevier
-
- Quick View is a simple desk accessory that can be used for viewing files in
- either text or hex. Install it as you would install any other desk accessory.
- When you select the Quick View desk accessory, it will prompt you for a file
- name, as well as giving you some other options. You can view the file in
- text mode or in hex mode. If you select smart, it will view the file in text
- mode if the file type is TEXT, and in hex mode if it isn't. You can also
- choose which fork of the file you want to view. If you choose smart, it will
- view the data fork if there is one, or the resource for if there isn't. After
- you select the file, a window will be opened showing the contents of the file.
- The scroll bar can be used to move through the file, or the following key
- board equivalents:
-
- [Space Bar], [PgDn] - Scroll down a page
- [B], [PgUp] - Scroll up a page
- [Down arrow] - Scroll down a line
- [Up arrow] - Scroll up a line
- [Q] - quit
- [Home] - go to the beginning of the file
- [End] - go to the end of the file
-
- That's it! It is very simple to use, but I find it useful. You can use it
- to view files from Word or other word processors, without having to load the
- applications. There are some random control characters in the file, but the
- text is still readable.
-
- If you find this program useful, all I ask is that you send $4.00 to:
