Doutris v. 1.2 by Creative Logic - README file
Welcome to DOUTRIS v. 1.2 a two player version of Tetris.
-----------------------------------
System Requirements
-----------------------------------
286 (386 recommended)
VGA graphics
640 K ram (540K free / 612K free recommended)
1.1 Mb harddrive space
There is also support for :
------------------------------
A MicroSoft compatible mouse.
Sound Blaster and Sound Blaster PRO
----------------------------------
How to play
----------------------------------
You will find a manual describing the game in detailt from within
DOUTRIS. Simply run DOUTRIS.EXE from your DOUTRIS Directory.
----------------------------------
Keyboard usage
----------------------------------
We can't recommend using the keyboard for Doutris, but if you don't
have a MicroSoft compatible mouse, the manual will describe how to
run DOUTRIS with the keyboard.
The options keys can be a bit triggy so if for some
reson you are running Doutris without a mouse we recommend you
write down the various key assigments on a piece of paper.
Sorry about this keyboard stuff, but the game was originally
mice only.
----------------------------------
Sound Cards
----------------------------------
Doutris supports Sound Blaster and Sound Blaster Pro (Stereo) sound.
However Doutris does not support Sound Blaster 1.0. For Sound Blaster Pro
sound you should have a 100 % compatible sound card we haven't really
tried Doutris on anything other than a true Sound Blaster so problems
may occure. When you setup Doutris for Sound Blaster a menu will
appear prompting for Sound Card settings. To exit this menu without
changing your sound settings press escape.
---------------------------------
Sequences
---------------------------------
Doutris contain two sequences the intro sequence and the options sequence.
These two sequences are the main reson why Doutris take up so much space.
If you find that 1 Mb is too much for a simple game like Doutris you could
erase the two sequences. You should'nt do this by DOS or Windows you must
run Doutris with the Erase parameter.
---------------------------------
Windows 3.xx
---------------------------------
Doutris has'nt really been tested using Windows 3.xx though everything
except the manual seemm to be working fine. However we cannot recommend
you running Doutris from within Windows 3.xx since Windows tend to slow
everything down due to its lack of real multitasking.
---------------------------------
What shall i do if ...
---------------------------------
...Doutris tells you there isn't enough memory :
Now this is very unlikely, because Doutris can run with less than 412 Kb of
main memory. The intro sequence however take up around 512 Kb so to run
Doutris with less than 500 Kb you mush first disable the intro by running
Doutris with the NOINTRO parameter. If you have less than 600K free Doutris
will only show as much of the options sequence as it can contain i memory.
...Doutris tells me a file is missing :
If you are not running Doutris from its directory Doutris will not be able
to load the appropriate files, simply change to the Doutris directory.
If you are running Doutris from the right directory you should reinstall
Doutris with the missing files.
...I got a Sound Blaster card and Doutris does'nt recognize it:
Not much we can do about that, you could try again though.
...my computer frequently lock up when i run Doutris:
One reason for this could be the Sound Blaster Interrupt, simply disable
Sound Blaster sound and everything should work fine.
Alternatively you havent got enough memory or you've erased or damaged
some of Doutris. Try freeing up more memory and as a last resort reinstall
Doutris. If this does'nt do any good we cannot help you.
If you have any comments,
you got an idea for a new game or
you just want send us a bit of appreciation, send it to :
