WHAT'S NEW ABOUT VGA TANKS V16.0
------------------------------------
Don't you hate WHATS.NEW files? Like anybody really cares.
But this is a _WHATS.NEW file, so for those who do care...
New Options:
* Emplacements - Tanks that can't move. Be nice and give them Shells
that can shoot over obstacles.
* Unlimited Games - Select a Combat Stage that has no preset end or an
unlimited number of Combat Stages. Then play forever.
* SRH - Short-Range Homing Shells. These are what the Drones use
and are now available to players (to keep the computer from
cheating as much.) These Shells have improved homing capability
when fired at short range.
* Damage - Although this Option can be selected, it has not been
implemented in the program code yet. If your Tank takes
too many hits in a Stage, it will slow down until you
get to an Ammo Base.
* Absolute Joystick Control - A user requested Option, now available!
Tank moves in the direction you move the joystick.
* Tank Size - A Random selection is now available for this Option.
Other Changes:
* Bouncing Homing Shells: These shells have been made more useful.
Select `Bounce' as the Shell attribute on the Options Menu, and
Homing on the Opening Screen. When fired toward the enemy Tank,
the homing system will lock on. However, the Shell will not home
UNTIL it bounces off something. Think of it as a variation on
Semi-Active Homing.
* Drone logic has been reworked. Hopefully they are a bit more intelligent
and a bit more challenging.
* New storage method for graphics images uses less disk space.
* Improved `bump' routine when you are hit by enemy Shells.
* Scoring factors slightly modified.
* High Score list modified to only accept 14 character long names to
better accommodate 7 digit scores...up to 9999999 points.
* Ending game with ESC does not nullify score for game.
* Tank Status Displays slightly modified, game end indicator added.
* Phantom White Tank glitch eliminated (if you never saw it, don't worry
about it...)
* System lock-up eliminated at end of Stages where Terrain switches.
Finally, the file _TERRAIN.TXT is now also included with VGA Tanks to explain
the effect of various terrain types. Information on scoring is also presented.
