  1.                   Late Breaking News for Windows Users

  4. The following tips, hints, and notes may help if you experience 
  5. trouble with this CD-ROM:
  6.  
  7. DISCLAIMER: This CD-ROM was authored with MacroMedia Director
  8. for Windows 4.0.4; there may be compatibility issues between the 
  9. authoring software and the vast array of hardware/software for the 
  10. Windows environment. This may limit our ability to fully support this
  11. product for non-content issues.
  12.  
  13. MEMORY: PC users with 8 MB of RAM or more will find the performance of
  14. the CD can be significantly improved by turning off virtual memory 
  15. (swap-file set to none in the controls panel under 386 enhanced).  PC 
  16. users with only 4 MB of RAM may find they have to turn on the swap-file
  17. in order to run the product because not enough memory is available to 
  18. load it. If you experience weird color changes and screen shifting you
  19. may have had enough memory to launch the product, but not enough to run
  20. it properly.  If this is the case, you may need to increase your 
  21. swap-file size.

  23. INSTALLATION:  Type the following command into the File Menu's Run 
  24. dialogue box from within Windows Program Manager:
  25.  
  26. D:\install
  27.  
  28. If your CD-ROM drive is not D then substitute it for D above.
  29.  
  30.  
  31. AUDIO:  Audio playback performance depends solely on your sound card.
  32. Some sound cards play the audio back at a lesser quality and others 
  33. will set the audio level to 0.  All of these actions depend upon the 
  34. chip set of the audio card and the standards it supports. IF A MOVIE 
  35. STARTS PLAYING WITHOUT AUDIO THEN YOU SHOULD STOP THE MOVIE TEMPORARILY
  36. WITH THE MOVIE CONTROLLER AND THEN START IT AGAIN; ALLOWING YOUR SOUND
  37. CARD TO CATCH-UP TO THE VIDEO.

  39. VIDEO:  All of the video has been compressed to 180 kbps and should 
  40. play smoothly (15 frames per second)from double speed CD-ROM drives. 
  41. Once again, quality of playback will depend upon your video driver 
  42. and monitor.
  43.  
  44. INTERFACE/STILL PICTURES:  A minimum of an 8-bit (256 colors) color 
  45. display is necessary to enjoy this CD-ROM.  Some older video 
  46. drivers are not compatible with current standards and you may 
  47. experience palette shifting or other display problems. We suggest you 
  48. update your video driver if you experience display problems.
