  11. This is the Free demo version of Fields of Battle - Strategic Warfare Series,

  25. 1. INTRODUCTION
  26. ---------------

  28. With this version you have the opportunity to evaluate the game before buying
  29. it. This way you are sure not to buy a pick in a poke. The Free demo version
  30. is not the full game, but will surely be sufficient for you to get an idea of
  31. the numerous features and challenges you will get from registering Fields of 
  32. Battle.
  33.  
  34. When you have evaluated the game, check out the price below. Then you will 
  35. now why you should register Fields of Battle.

  38. To run Fields of Battle you will need the following computer and software:
  39.  
  40. PC:     CPU:              80386SX or better
  41.         Operating system: Windows 3.1 or newer
  42.         Memory:           4 Mb RAM
  43.         Disk:             A minimum of 10 Mb of free HardDisk space
  44.         Graphics Card:    A resolution of at least 640x480
  45.                           At least 256 colors

  49. AMIGA:  Operating system: Kickstart 2.0 or higher
  50.                           Workbench 2.0 or higher
  51.         Memory:           3 Mb RAM. At least 1 Mb must be chip memory

  56. 2. INSTALLING AND RUNNING FIELDS OF BATTLE 
  57. ------------------------------------------

  60. 2.1. INSTALLING
  61. ---------------
  62.   Note: The vendor might have changed the way the files are distributed, in 
  63.   this case the installation might differ.
  64.   
  65.  
  66.   1. Change to the directory where you want the Fields of Battle directory 
  67.      created. Unpack all supplied archives (with directory structure. This is
  68.      the default on normal packers with inteligent authors, but if you use 
  69.      PKUNZIP, remember the -d switch).
  70.      PC-Users be aware: The game will be installed in a SUBDIRECTORY to the
  71.      directory you select.
  72.      
  73.   2. Amiga users can relax, while PC users continue (We just love MicroSoft 
  74.      for the easy way to install programs)
  75.      
  76.   3. Select the group in which you want the Fields of Battle icon installed.
  77.   
  78.   4. Select "Add Item" from the menu "File" in your program-manager.
  79.   
  80.   5. Select "Add Item" and click OK
  81.   
  82.   6. Select Browse, locate the directory where you installed Fields of Battle
  83.      and select the file "FOB.EXE" in the sub-directory FOB
  84.      
  85.   7. Write "Fields of Battle" in the name field, and press OK.
  86.   
  87.   8. Remember: The registered version includes an install tool doing all this
  88.      for you.

  91. 2.2. RUNNING
  92. ------------
  93.  
  94.   PC-Users: Just click on the icon you worked so hard for to create.
  95.   
  96.   Amiga-Users: Double click on the DEMOFOB directory icon to bring up the 
  97.                Fields of Battle window. Double click on the FOB program icon 
  98.                to start the program. (If you want to use a screenmode that 
  99.                differs from your Workbench, doubleclick the ScreenMd icon, 
  100.                and selet the mode you want). 
  101.                
  102.                If the DEMOFOB directory icon or the FOB program icons is not 
  103.                available open a shell and change to the DEMOFOB directory. 
  104.                Type the following:

  111. 3. REGISTERING THE FULL GAME

  114. 3.1. WHAT YOU WILL GET
  115. ----------------------

  117. When you have sent your registration and payment, you will recieve the full
  118. version of Fields of Battle. This includes:

  120. 1. The full game
  121. The full game will contain all features not available in the Free demo 
  122. version. You can read about them in the on-line help and encyclopedia 
  123. included in this demo version.

  125. 2. All 8 missions
  126. All 8 missions will be available to you, especially the 8th mission will give
  127. you the ultimative challenge in playing Fields of Battle.

  129. 3. Manual
  130. The manual will help you getting started, selecting the right basic strategies
  131. and is a good supplement to the on-line help system.
  132.  
  133. 4. On-line help system
  134. The on-line help system is an easy and quick way to help you with your
  135. questions when playing Fields of Battle.
  136.  
  137. 5. Encyclopedia
  138. Close connected to the on-line help is the Encyclopedia over Fields of Battle
  139. and World War I. Here you can read about World War I, giving you the
  140. background for the scenarios and how you can use military units in Fields of
  141. Battle.
  142.  
  143. 6. Tables
  144. The tables are very important when playing Fields of Battle. They describe the
  145. hit probability for the military units in the different geographical types of
  146. areas. The tables are also available in the on-line help, but they are much
  147. faster available on paper, so all tables will be included on paper for easy
  148. reference.
  149.  
  150. 7. Map
  151. Also the play map will be included on paper for easy overview and strategic
  152. planning.
  153.  
  154. 8. Installation tool for easy instaling Fields of Battle. For PC users an 
  155. uninstall tool will be included.
  156.  
  157. 9. For AMIGA users: Versions optimized for different processors.

  160. 3.2. MULTI-USER LICENSE
  161. -----------------------

  163. If you want to use the game on more than one computer you can get a multi-user
  164. license. Simply write the number of licenses you would like to order on the
  165. registration form. You will recieve one copy of the disks and as many copies
  166. of manuals etc. as you ordered. See payment below for prices when buing more
  167. than one license.

  170. 3.3. PAYMENT

  174. You can pay Bevelstone Production I/S ("Bevelstone") in any listed currency
  175. below. Do NOT send us any coins, only banknotes.
  176. The price is listed below. For countries not on the list, select one of the 
  177. currencies listed on the pricelist or below the pricelist and send us an 
  178. amount being equivalent of 250.00 DKK (100.00 DKK per each additional 
  179. license).
  180. You acknowledge, that Bevelstone has the right to reject the payment 
  181. if the amount is not being close enough to DKK 250.00 (100.00 DKK per each

  183. is accepted.
