KINGPIN
=========
The kingpin of the title comes from the ten pin bowling term and the
film is based on that sport.It stars Woody Harrelson of Cheers and
Natural Born Killers fame,and he playes the part of a bowler who
loses a hand in an incident staged by his rival played by BIll Murray
of Ghostbusters and Ground Hog Day.Unable to bowl with his artificial
hand he goes on the lookout for a protege to coach to stardom.He finds
his target in an unlikely place,an Amish community.He then prizes his
quarry away from his home and takes him on a hilarious jaunt picking
up the lovely Vanessa Angel on the way.The film culminates in the
showdown between Murray and Harrelson at the championships in Reno.
Anyone who enjoys the knockabout humour of films such as Dumb and
Dumber will also get big kicks from this movie as it has many jokes in
the slightly less than subtle mode.I thought it was slightly childish
in parts,very funny in others,and a bit cliched in general.
