The tips in this doc file concern only the people who own an - ATARI- STE

Q:- WHY CAN I NOT BOOT UP MY STE INTO MEDIUM RESOLUTION?
A:- Due to yet another bug in the new version of the TOS. system
the atari ste will not boot up into medium resolution.
There is only one proper way to solve the problem -
You must first load the desktop and change it to medium
resolution, then save it while still in med-res.
The next thing that has to be done is to load either disk doctor or
a word processor eg... 1st word or a similar type of program.
you must load into the program the DESKTOP.INF file, then change the
line data which reads #E 00 92 <---- THE NUMBER 2
to a new line reading #E 00 93 <---- JUST THE 2 to a 3
THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO IT - NOW SIMPLY SAVE YOUR NEW DATA TO DISK
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a sample desktop inf file (this is actually for a tos 1.4
but the line you want is for the tos 1.6 so you won't get confused),
in some cases the 92 may be a 02 or other but it works the same.
