  59.      As a result of the  article  in  Atari  World  magazine we have had 19
  60.      enquiries about the group this month  of  which 17 have joined so far,
  61.      welcome to all of them. Unfortunately  a few members have also dropped
  62.      out this month, Jonathan White has  moved  to  the Apple Mac and Ralph
  63.      Lovesy is now writing games for the PC. However, we still have over 50
  64.      current members which should be enough  to keep the magazine going for
  65.      a long time yet.

  67.      We would like to see more  feedback  from  members on what you want to
  68.      see in the magazine and  we  would  like  to  have more letters in the
  69.      correspondence section below which is a  bit sparse this month. If you
  70.      have a programming problem, or  a  solution to somebody else's, please
  71.      send it in. If you send in  a  replacement disk for next months issue,
  72.      put a short letter on it with  a programming query, comments about the
  73.      group, some aspect of  programming  or  whatever.  Although  we have a
  74.      number of PD  articles/programs  available  for  the  disks,  we would
  75.      prefer to use original material from members where possible.

  79.      When you send in a disk please use  a DS/DD type disk rather than High
  80.      Density because we cannot read some disks of this type.

  84.      In the Misc section we  have  some  more  information  on GDOS and the
  85.      AMCGDOS program which was mentioned last month. There was no text file
  86.      with this program so presumably it is used in the same way as GDOS but
  87.      as it is PD it can be supplied with any PD program that requires GDOS.
  88.      We haven't tried it so we don't know how reliable it is, if anyone has
  89.      any further information about the program, please let us know.

  91.      Also a member has volunteered to  write an article on using SpeedoGDOS
  92.      from a programmers point of view which  we  hope to publish in a later
  93.      issue. If anyone has any tips on using SpeedoGDOS, please send them in
  94.      so that we can include them in the article.

  102.      HISOFT BASIC2 toolkit that I am writing. The program and documentation
  103.      would remain unchanged, and you would  get  full credit as the author,
  104.      the toolkit will initially only  be  released  to  ICTARI, but will be
  105.      public domain and will eventually find  its  way around the houses. An
  106.      answer, either personally  (my  address  is  in  the  members list) or
  107.      through ICTARI would be appreciated.

  115.      screen and blitter routines. Anything you think may be useful would be

  125.      Hum !  Simple question for you lot.  I managed to get myself a printer
  126.      recently - a Panasonic KX-P1170 9 pin.  I have the little problem that
  127.      it won't print the #  instead  it  prints  £,  this is annoying when I
  128.      print up listings. I know there  is  a  way  round this as I solved it
  129.      years and years ago when I had a  Star  LC 10, but I'll be damned if I
  130.      can remember it !!!!

  135.      to highlight a keyboard shortcut, alas I  am unable to discover how to
  136.      achieve this underline - is it an undocumented feature ?

  140.      */ If you are using DevPac  to  print  Assembler listings, you can use
  141.      the LISTCHAR pseudo-op at the beginning of  your source code to send a
  142.      command string to the  printer  at  the  start  of printing. The codes
  143.      following the command are  sent  to  the  printer  and  can be used to
  144.      change the character set, character pitch, or whatever. I normally use
  145.      the codes -

  149.      which sets the text to 17 cpi and  the character set to USA which uses
  150.      the  #  sign  instead  of  the   £   sign  on  my  Panasonic  printer.
  151.      Unfortunately this technique only works when the code is assembled and
  152.      not if you want to just dump  a  block  of source code to the printer.
  153.      However, if you assemble the code  first the printer should retain any
  154.      set-ups so that subsequent printouts will be OK.
