- The culture
- by Trophy
- ------ - - ---------- - - -
-
- Every culture in the world has it's own language. The culture exists as long as
- the language lives in the minds of the people. Look at the middle-ages when the
- Latin language was the most popular in the world of science, art and religion.
- Then the Francais had it's own time. And after the industrial revolution
- English is the basic - except that the biggest cultural community in the world
- is speaking Chinese.
-
- Every nation has it's own language used to describe ideas and feelings. It's
- hard to translate anything from one language to another without losing some of
- this unique meaning.
-
- As long as the language exists the nation is growing and the culture will get
- richer and richer. It's true about all natural languages we use in everyday
- life.
-
- But what about programming languages?
-
- The scene is also a part of culture, we should say 'global culture' of our
- 'global society'. Today everything is global due to the telecommunications
- revolution.
-
- The natural language of computers is binary code. We can even say that the
- binary logic is suitable for describing everything in our world, even emotions
- and feelings. The DNA code, the language of life - from the biological point of
- view is also easy to describe using binary codes. To states can be used to tell
- every story - they create a special language for any problem in the world. The
- scene also has it's own language. Our 'lingua franca' is English - more or less
- broken, depending on the language skills of a member of the scene. But we can
- easily communicate. It doesn't mean that the scene will live as long as we talk
- in English. We can even use Esperanto. The basic language of each demo-scene,
- not only Atari, is assembler. As long as the coders use it and write new
- productions our scene will live. It's hard when the production of Motorola
- based machines, compatible with Atari is a kind of illusion today but this is
- the one and only truth. There is no place for a demo-scene when people forget
- assembler. And, of course the scene has it's own culture - the little part of
- global culture. We're also a members of society. We will exist as long as the
- assembler of Motorola's will be used by coders. They are a kind of poet of our
- nation.
-
- We can help this existence in creating libraries.
- With source code and tutorials, not only to help in developing but also to have
- our own place where everything from the past can still live . To share the past
- and store the memories of our activity and existence.
- And we should also promote Atari computers in many ways. The Fuji logo is still
- a sign of good fun The expansion of our culture can help get Atari reborn. Even
- if it's impossible we have to try.
