  21.         The A-Kwic Indexing System provides tools for performing
  22.         rapid keyword searches of user data.
  23.         
  24.         Applications for A-Kwic would include:
  25.            * Indexing contents of CD-ROMs.
  26.            * Indexing the contents of software archives, such as 'aminet'.
  27.            * Indexing any collection text, such as audio or video collections.
  28.            * Allowing keyword searches of customer records, or other business
  29.              related data.
  30.            * As part of a "customer support" toolset, allowing keyword
  31.              searches of "Bug Reports" or "Fix Databases".
  32.         
  33.         The A-Kwic system has two components, the database loader, and the
  34.         database searcher.
  35.         
  36.         The database loader, LoadDB, reads user created input records, and
  37.         scans these records for keywords. It then builds the database files
  38.         for use by the database searcher. 
  39.         
  40.         The input records, which LoadDB reads, contains information such as
  41.         a record's title, lines that will be keyworded, lines that will
  42.         appear in the record, but will not be keyworded, and line to specify
  43.         additional keywords, that do not appear in the record.
  44.         
  45.         Sample programs are provided, written in ARexx or C, that create
  46.         LoadDB input files from both Fish & Aminet CD-ROM content
  47.         listings.

  49.         Once a database has been created, it can be searched using the
  50.         A-Kwic command. This program prompts the user for keywords, and
  51.         searches the database for matches. Searches are extremely fast,
  52.         due to the way LoadDB organizes the data.
  53.         
  54.         Multiple keywords can be specified for a search. The keywords can
  55.         be "ANDed" or "ORed", and grouped using parenthesis.
  56.         
  57.         If any matches are found by the search, the user can choose to
  58.         view the matching record's titles. The titles are displayed in
  59.         a scrolling listview. The user can choose to view a specific
  60.         record by double clicking on it's title.
  61.         
  62.         Both LoadDB and A-Kwic run from either the CLI, or the workbench.
  63.         A-Kwic supports being launched from Project icons, so that
  64.         an A-Kwic database can have it's own icon, and will invoke A-Kwic
  65.         if double clicked.
