- Quip 0.07e is very powerful, but I still have a few more things I want to
- do with it before I feel I've finished:
-
- * GUI front end (I know, weird, but someone asked for it).
-
- * Utility to handle the manipulation of quips (deletion, addition, and
- modification of quips), using the user's favorite text editor. This will
- probably be incorporated with the GUI.
-
- * Filter program to create text boxes, justification, ANSI stuff, and
- whatnot. Much of this can be done without the need for a filter program,
- but it's sorta one of those programming challanges for me. It will be
- implemented as a separate program.
-
- * Various bug fixes, as they become discovered.
-
- * Compression/decompression of datafiles through Xpr protocol libraries,
- so huge half-meg datafiles can be shrunk without having to wait too long
- for decompression, yet still offer a choice of decompression algorythms
- in case something better comes out. Pity xprarchive.library hasn't been
- written yet <sigh>.. I could use it for this project.
-
- * Conversion utility from other datafile formats to Quip. This will
- probably be incorporated with the GUI and routines for handling compressed
- quips. In fact, I expect that Quip's current datafile format will be
- altered completely to conform to IFF conventions, so a conversion program
- will be necessary. The advantage, of course, is that users will be able
- to use '@' symbols in their datafiles. I'll probably also create a
- conversion program to take QuipScript files and make them into IFF files,
- so one IFF file could hold both a QuipScript and a DataFile (just as the
- text forms can now). The GUI will probably make programming QuipScripts
- easier as compensation. Still need to work on the ideas for this.
