  3.       This maintenence release corrects a few bugs that have been
  4.    reported since the 2.0c release.  Although a few unresolved bugs
  5.    still exist, I didn't want to hold this one off any longer due to
  6.    the DISPLAY command syntax error when Terminus is used under
  7.    AmigaDOS 1.3.
  8.  
  9.       One bug report mentioned by a few CompuServe users concerning a
  10.    lock-up during logon, lost characters and other things; please make
  11.    sure that the "micro inquiry" option in your user profile is turned
  12.    off.  GO PROFILE and enter the terminal options in your permanent
  13.    settings to change this option.

  19.       Due to a leak during beta testing of 2.0b, that version was not
  20.    officially released.

  22.       The History.txt file included with this archive details the
  23.    other changes and fixes in the 2.0c release of Terminus.

  25.       Both installation scripts can be executed from any directory
  26.    you choose instead of just from floppy as before.

  30.    Terminius 2.0a ReadMe file
  31.    --------------------------
  32.       This is an interim bugfix release due to several major problems
  33.    with the initial 2.0 release of Terminus.

  35.       This release of Terminus now provides a screen mode requester
  36.    for 2.x users.  In order to access it you will need to have the
  37.    V38 release of asl.library (included with the 2.1 release of
  38.    AmigaDOS) or the V38 (version 2.1) of ReqTools present in your
  39.    LIBS: directory.  If neither is found Terminus will not be able
  40.    to start.

  49.       Welcome to Terminus, the long awaited replacement to JR-Comm 1.02a.
  50.    This archive represents two years of development of which one year was
  51.    spent beta testing over 30 releases by over 40 people.  They have my
  52.    deepest gratitude for putting up with me for the duration.
  53.    
  54.       Although I sincerly think that this program is quite reliable it
  55.    most likely still contains a few bugs being that it is the first
  56.    release.  Hopefully, they're few and minor, if not, they will be
  57.    corrected shortly as the reports come in.
  58.    
  59.       Two items that are missing from this initial release are the
  60.    JR-Comm to Terminus phonebook converter and a basic host script.
  61.    I've not had time to finish the utility yet, I plan to have it done
  62.    shortly and will post it seperately once it is finished.  Registered
  63.    versions will not ship until the utility is done either, figure on a
  64.    few weeks for that to get done and the registered version to be
  65.    released.

  67.       The host script was planned on being developed simultaneously
  68.    with the debugging of the script interpeter.  Things got sidetracked
  69.    and I never got around to completing it.  The host.scp file that's
  70.    included with this archive is a script fragment that handles user
  71.    login, nothing more.  If you would like to "adopt" the host script
  72.    I'd appreciate the help, just ask so that I know not to duplicate
  73.    your efforts.

  76.    Installing Terminus
  77.    -------------------
  78.       This archive should be dearchived to a blank floppy named
  79.    "TerminusMaster", but it can be installed from any directory you
  80.    desire.  Two installation scripts are present, one for hard disk
  81.    installation and one for creating a boot/work floppy disk set for
  82.    use on a floppy based system.  The script is able to create 1.3, 
  83.    2.04 and 2.1 boot disks.

  86.    Registering Terminus
  87.    --------------------
  88.       Registered JR-Comm users can upgrade to Terminus for a fee of $10US
  89.    plus a small fee for shipping.  First-time users can register Terminus
  90.    for $40US plus shipping as well.

  92.       Credit cards are still out of my reach.  All attempts at getting a
  93.    merchant account have been unseccessful so far.  I'm still trying
  94.    though.
  95.    
  96.       I'm also trying to locate some distribution contacts in Europe and
  97.    Australia so that people overseas don't have to get penalized by the
  98.    high cost of converting local currency to US funds.
  99.    
  100.       I'll post more info about these things in the coming weeks once the
  101.    initial release has settled down.

  104.    Printed user manuals
  105.    --------------------
  106.       Although I can no longer provide for printed output due to the size
  107.    of the user manual, I am looking into commercial printing services to
  108.    get a small format, bound manual done.  Further details will be made
  109.    available when and if one becomes available.

  112.    Future plans for Terminus
  113.    -------------------------
  114.       I've already outlined the addition of several major features that
  115.    will be added to Terminus.  These items will be added prior to moving
  116.    over to a WB2.0-only version of Terminus.

  118.       Tentative plans are:

  120.       2.1 - Add RIP support.  RIP is an acronym for Remote Image Protocol
  121.             that is gaining popularity in the IBM PC world and is the
  122.             intended graphics replacement for SkyPix which was dropped
  123.             from Terminus.
  124.    
  125.       2.2 - Add Hydra protocol.  Hydra is the only publically documented
  126.             full-duplex transfer protocol that I've come in contact with
  127.             so far.  It originated on the IBM PC and hopefully has some
  128.             support there.
  129.    
  130.       2.3 - Tokenize the script interpeter for faster execution.

  132.       2.4 - Add a full implementation of Super Kermit with Sliding
  133.             Windows.

  135.       Additional features may appear with each release, but these are
  136.    the major items that I have slated for development at this time.
