  7. Description: First public Release - EMS is able to handle Fido and already in
  8. some parts UUCP.

  10.   The purpose of EMS is made clear by the meaning of its name:  to    
  11. manage in an easy and uniform way an Electronic Mail System.  The word 
  12. "Mail", here, has a wider meaning than that of "Messages", since it als
  13. includes files, much the same way conventional mail also dispatches    
  14. parcels.

  16.    In an uniform way, I said.  In fact, unlike other products, EMS can 
  17. be used with FIDONET technology networks AND with USENET-kind network, 
  18. with the same kind of interaction.  The software takes on itself all   
  19. the work required to overcome the differences between different        
  20. networks.                                                            
  21.                                                                       
  22.    EMS is not a single, huge executable file, but rather a set of      
  23. modules, configured as run-time libraries, each dealing with a        
  24. different task.  The whole thing only runs with Kickstart 2.0 or newer:
  25. it's both a choice (Kick 2.0 is a major step onwards if compared with  
  26. earlier versions of the O.S), and a necessity, since BOOPSI only comes 
  27. with the new operating system.
