Hi Niko
Just found this question when browsing through old mail, I don't think I
saw anyone answering it.
This version is quite exclusive. It is a downtempo edit of the version that
appeared in the Craig Stump extreme snow movie "License To Thrill".
Soundtrack to this movie was only available as promo cassette. Good sports
shops will have the movie. It is _not_ on the Hitsquad M/cr EP.
Now what intrigues me is that you say the CD also includes Deepville. I
have the 2xLP set, total 9 tracks incl. dance yourself to death and let
yourself go, but no Deepville! If you come accross another copy of the CD,
I would be very interested.
Cheers
Markus

Hello list,
after revisiting the ztt site I discovered that the 'I' in noise had change
shape. Now 5 options are valid.
I wonder how many out there have heard or caught a copy of the new AoN 12"
????
They state themselves: "It's not available in the shops so how are you to
get a hold of one?"
From the ASIA list there is not any news regarding the release of early
BUGGLES material. I understand from the list that Mr Horn have answered "no"
for such a release!
Any comments ?

i can't believe that i got this before all you US-based 808 obsessives, but
here's something i picked up yesterday.
808state - Cubik:98 *PROMOTIONAL 12" SINGLE*
1998 US; Universal Records, U8P-1318
10.42 Cubik:98 (Victor Calderone Remix)
4.43 Cubik:98
5.56 Pacific:808:98
5.30 Azura
3.35 Cubik:88
i've only listened to the new mix a couple of times, and it's pretty good. not
earth-shattering, but not bad...
it's in a black, die-cut sleeve and has a blue sticker with white writing.
marvellous.

Hello all!
Just got hold of a copy of the upcoming Adamski album. I find it's pretty
good - just as the singles (i.e. original mixes) suggested.
It's really solid, a unique kind of music currently, I'd say. Just as it
says, he's doing his own "Thing".
Go and have a listen when it's available!
* Adamski's Thing: Adamski's Thing
[27 Oct 1998] album
CD: 1998 UK (ZTT: ZTT 114CDP {ZTT 114CD}) [promo]
5:12 Memories Of The Future [Original Version]
2:04 Sparklin'
5:17 One Of The People [Album Version]
5:18 Existential Boredom [Album Version]
4:36 Intravenous Venus [Album Version]
4:20 Antibody
5:02 God's Teeth
4:52 Climbing Up
2:50 Love Story
3:21 Piccadilly Circus
3:46 Champagne Or Real Pain?
19:50 4:59 Ascendre Verso La Cima
10:01 {blank}
4:50 [Memories Of The Future (Alternative Version)]
(The tracklist is identical to the one from Henry's promo cassette, except
for the 'hidden' bonus track.)
Regards
Joerg
P.S.: Wonder what's become of "I Spit On Your Rave" (interesting title, if
you compare Adamski's Thing to the early Adamski stuff).

Hello All!
I went to a music show this weekend and what should I find but two copies of
Danny Jackson's
1985 book about the rise of Frankie Goes To Hollywood, "Frankie Say". It's
a soft cover book
and looks to be very interesting (I've never had a chance to see it before).
Well, since I picked up two copies, I though I might start passing the book
around to those
list members who haven't had a chance to see it. Say I send it to someone
to read
for two weeks, and then they send it back and I mail it to another person,
so on and so on.
Since I trust that the list is comprised of members of uppermost integrity,
I don't think
I'll have any problems with people not returning the book.
So, let me know what you think of the idea...

Hey ZTTists.
Found a Grace Jones 2-CD release called "Private Life: The Compass Point
Sessions" (Island 314 524 501-2) which includes an interesting vsn of
"Slave."
I've been seeking the 12" vsn for some time and this is the closest I've
gotten, "Slave to the Rhythm (Hot Blooded Version)" It's basically a
non-vocal mix for the first 2 min, then the vocal mix of the 12" (which I
blv is the same as the LP mix) except during the break, which was edited out
of the LP, whr she says, "I've opened myself now..." it's just instrumental.
It concludes the same way as the 12" which was edited down on the LP.
It's about 8:18. Certainly worth a listen. As to whether or not it's worth
the $20 I paid for it here in the States @ Best Buy? I'm sure I'll listen
to it many times over the coming years. :)

Date: 06 Oct 1998 20:45:21 -0700
Hey ZTT-ers. Unlike Joerg, I haven't got a copy of the latest Adamski's
thing CD. But, I do have information on its release in the US.
Adamski's Thing: Adamski's Thing
[3 Nov 1998] album
CD: 1998 US (UNIVERSAL: UD 53213)
CT: 1998 US (UNIVERSAL: UC 53213)
Track listing looks the same. It does list the last track as
"Memories of The Future (reprise)". Whether it will be hidden or not like
on the UK version remains to be seen.
Here are some highlights from the press release:
You may remember Adamski (as Adam Tinley was then known). Perhaps best
known for his collaboration Seal on a track called "Killer", Adamski then
went on to release two grooving albums through MCA that made a major splash
in the dance community.
Adamski is now back on the scene with his new project, Adamski's Thing.
With a great new single ("One Of The People") and a self-titled full-length
album, Adam appears ready for a major crossover breakthrough. Inferno/Fat
Boy Records artist Gerideau provides lead vocals on six of the album's
tracks, including "One Of The People".
Marketing Highlights:
*Adamski is one of the most respected names in the dance community.
*Extensive club promotion with DJs and record pools has been underway with
various mixes of "One Of The People" since late August.
*"One Of The People" has just shipped to Modern Rock specialty shows and
will ship to Modern Rock for a late October add date.
*Two versions of the cutting-edge video for "One Of The People" are
available and will be serviced to MTV, VH-1, local video outlets and clubs.
*A press campaign targeting dance, fashion and lifestyle publications is
already underway.
*An 18"X24" poster will be available prior to street date.
______
Well, forget the highlights...there's the whole thing.

There's also a promo-only, one-CD version (PRCD-7806-2) of this album. It
has 12 tracks, including the mix of "Slave." I found my copy at a used-CD
store for $8.99, but I have no idea how many of these promos were manufactured.
Anyone who ends up springing for the full retail 2-CD version because they
can't find the promo shouldn't complain, though. This is really a great
album! I can't imagine anyone buying it and being disappointed in the other
songs.
By the way, the "Hot Blooded" mix on the "Compass Point" album is VERY, VERY
similar to the "Blooded" mix that appeared on "Zance" and on Grace's
10th-anniversary "Slave" CD single. Caveat emptor: Don't expect anything
radically different for your money.

╖ Seal returns with his long-awaited follow-up to 1994's triple-Platinum
Seal album, the all-new Human Being. Teaming for the third time with master
producer Trevor Horn (Rod Stewart, Cher, Art Of Noise), Seal has created a
sweepingly evocative set of songs that pairs his elegant, soulful vocals
with lush melodies and fascinating rhythms.
╖ In addition to Seal and his core musicians, Earl Harvin and Jamie
Muhoberac, the album features musical contributions from the likes of Wendy
& Lisa (Prince), William Orbit (Madonna), David Sancious (Bruce
Springsteen), Mike Garson (David Bowie) and Anne Dudley (Art Of Noise).
╖ "Human Beings" is the album's first single and video, going to radio on
October 21. Look for a massive simultaneous radio and video promotion effort
at almost every format you can think of.
╖ Look for extensive press and media attention surrounding the release of
Human Being. Already confirmed are features in Billboard Entertainment
Weekly, GQ (an eight-page spread), In Style, People, Time and Us.
╖ Seal will be VH1's Artist Of The Month in February, and numerous other
national television appearances-including performances on David Letterman,
Saturday Night Live, Rosie O'Donnell, Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien-are
currently being lined up. Seal will also be per-forming four songs on the GQ
Awards show, which airs on VH1 on October 31.
╖ Plans are still being finalized, but tentative plans call for Seal to tour
the U.S. in March
and April.

Ah, yes. I've been terribly busy with a few other things lately, but this
is something I certainly want to do. Can we get a list of people interested
in contributing, or perhaps decide on a coordinator for the final
compilation, etc.? (Not that organization means TOO much, but the amount of
material used from each person would depend on the number of people
involved. Though frankly, I say let it be open-ended...volumes 2 and 3 if
necessary!
I'm going to come up with some new reconstructions shortly, in the
meantime, I'll see if I can locate my old "In No Sense? Nonsense!"
sketchpad on cassette - it was a rather pleasant medley of most of the
tracks from that album, along with a sample or two from Anne & Jaz's
"Victorious" album.
The intro to "Owner Of A Broken Heart" is not on my copy of "90125". I've
heard on the radio ONCE in my entire life, and it's also on the MIDI file
that I have of that song. Where the heck is it from? And if someone has it
on CD, can they rip & mp3 the intro for me (not the whole song)? I have
some grand remixing ideas for that piece...
(I'm sure every Yes fan on earth is laughing at me now)

really blurry.)
Promo copies of four Frankie CDs, "Gorgeous," and Propaganda's
"Disturbdances" all were at a used-CD store near me (Heavy Rotation on
Ventura Blvd. in Studio City, CA, if anyone is interested). Because the CDs
weren't shrink-wrapped, I was able to check out the interiors of the
booklets. Many photos had "moire" patterns (the screened look of a bad
reproduction). In general, every piece of art and type looked as if it had
been reproduced via a very bad computer scanner.
I have no idea if the sound quality of the CDs themselves is any
better/worse than previous editions. (Can anyone help me out here?) But if
the packaging is any indication, this reissue campaign is a real insult.

Hello everyone;
I'm trying to locate a copy of the homemade Propaganda/Act/Brucken
video that was offered on the list a couple of years ago. I had a
copy, but I've misplaced it. Is anyone interested in trading? I have
videos by the following groups that I am willing to trade:
Erasure Talking Heads Blow Monkeys
Seal Joe Jackson The Beautiful South
Paul Simon Fine Young Cannibals Bryan Ferry
Sugarcubes The Christians The Clash
Art of Noise OMD (soon to arrive) Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Stand by Me - AIDS Concert Video.
These range from homemade copies off of TV to professionally shot
concerts, and professional videos.
I also have most CD's released by Claudia, along with some 12" vinyl
that I'm willing to copy or trade.
Thanks for looking

Hi,
I just got review copies of all of the ZTT/Universla re-issues. If
anyone would like to review them or has input let me know.
My questions- 1) How is the sound quality. I'm no audiophile, but I
could have swoarn that my old UK CD of Pleasuredome sounded crisper than
the new issue? True?
2) the artwork seems scanned!! High quality, but still... did they loose
the artwork? I wouldn't be surprised if they did considering they
misplaced (but found) the master tapes.
-Thanks

I've been listening to the Dream On 12" all weekend... it's hardly AoN
as we know it. But it still rocks (thanks to Way Out West).
How dare Morley have slagged Anne, JJ and Gary for going
China/commercial on the sleevenotes to Daft, only to come back with this
ten years later...
There are some subtle similarities between this and to what the AoN PR's
website (www.outside-org.co.uk) likes to refer to as AoN version 2.0
(the China years). The image of Debussey on the 12" label is exactly
the same in style (and looks very similar to) the pics of Russollo on
the early China releases.
And talking of those - there's only one element that's musically similar
to any previous AoN. And again, Trevor, Anne and Morley have
surprisingly borrowed from the China years... Check out the heavily
reverbed snare drum hits on Dream On. They could have been taken
straight out of Legacy or the Live Legs...
AoN revitalised? Dream On...

For any die-hard collectors: ZTT and Universal have released a
promotional compilation called ZTT: baktrax - it's a gatefold package
with two songs by Frankie, AON, 808State and Propaganda. There's a bit
of a write-up on the inside saying something to the effect that "if you
were wondering where it all began, this is it - bla bla bla" (don't

re: the new art of noise:
agreed. the Dream On promo 12" is every bit a Way Out West record. it is good,
but i'm (..nervous twitch) 'confident' that it's not what the new AoN will
actually sound like. i've spent an embarrassing amount of time listening to
it, trying to "pick-out" what's AoN and what's WoW. ...it is a strange,
frustrating way to reintroduce AoN.
and speaking of Gary Langan, i recently bought a single by Lovatux called
"first kiss" that was produced by gary langan and howard jones. (don't
everybody run at once!) it sounds like the cardigans (all mixed up in bed)
with the cranberries. [pretty and irritating.]
and now the obligatory question: what's going on with the new Propaganda?! any
word on who's producing the project? song titles? have they got a label yet?
also, in the June '97 (nothing like timeliness) issue of ARENA magazine, for
which Paul Morley sometimes writes, his contributor bio mentioned that he has
a five year old daughter that lives half a mile away from Liam (Gallagher) and
Patsy (Kensit). would this be his and Claudia's daughter?... are she and
Morley still together?
love: and a million tacky questions,
zteven
PS.. i noticed remixes of Holly Johnson's "Hallelujah!" are at number 8 on the
"UK Club" charts on dotmusic right now... "what up?"

Is this a cd or a vinyl release?
I know there's a US vinyl promo compilation:
808 STATE (Pacific 808:98 5:58),
ART OF NOISE (Moments In Love beating hart's mix),
FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD (Relax ollie j mix 6:31), PROPAGANDA (P-Machinery
- the adventure continues 12:03)
Cat. no: ZTT 1394 (No picturesleeve)
