  25.      In february 1995 Anne Dudley released Ancient_and_Modern on the ECHO label, 
  26.      a first solo album, containg orchestral compositions of old traditional 
  27.      british works. The album stayed in the classical chart for 10 weeks, 
  28.      despite disadvantages such as 1) she was with AON, 2) she is young, 3) 
  29.      she's a woman.
  30.      
  31.      In december 1995 AD released a Christmas EP from this album, featuring 
  32.      two new tracks.

  34.      Currently she is writing a second solo album and has scored a new film, 
  35.      The_Grotesque, starring Sting, who have added lyrics to the opening credit 
  36.      music. The music is big band tracks.

  53.      The last couple of weeks heavy discussion have been on the YES 
  54.      newsgroup. The questions in concern is whether TCH sang vocals or 
  55.      backing vocals on Owner_of_a_lonely_heart or whether it's Trevor 
  56.      Rabin/Jon Anderson.
  57.      
  58.      It seems as real YES-fans think the TCH involvement as only a musical 
  59.      ripple.
  60.      
  61.      The background article with proof is an interview with Alan White 
  62.      where he describes the Two Trevors ability to sound as Jon Anderson. 
  63.      But which Trevor is refered to where - that's the question.
  64.      
  65.      To me it seems, that Trevor Rabin did the vocals on Owner, but still 
  66.      TCH is credited for fine achivements with YES. Especially the songs 
  67.      that didn't make it to the album is mentioned: Go_through_this and 
  68.      We_can_fly_from_here.

  70.      Check it yourself - it's funny !

  72.      Have in mind thou, that the Two Trevors still work together. On the 
  73.      new Tina Turner album they in fact sing together on her John Waite 
  74.      cover of his 1984 hit Missing_You.

  107. interviews. Since then, some of you have asked me where to find these 
  108. interviews, so I thought it would be best to mail more details to the 
  109. list.

  111. The best AD interview (imho) was in the April '95 issue of Sound and 
  112. Sound. She was also interviewed in Future Music (March or April issue 
  113. I think) and Classical Music (about the same time - it was quite 
  114. funny to see the same AD photo on the covers of both classical and 
  115. electronic music magazines at the same time...). I also think there 
  116. was a small feature in The Mix.

  138.  I just went to London last week, where I've been in the 
  139.  Gallery in Cork St. (London, Piccadilly), which has got the very 
  140.  immaginative name THE GALLERY. I found out that the exhibition 
  141.  "The House of Holly" has been from the 11th - 23rd of march. That was 
  142.  quite annoying for me, because I actually was in London at the 14th 
  143.  of march  not knowing about that exibition, which I've been waiting for scince 
  144.  two years...
  145.  Anyway, the poeple in THE gallery told me that I could get the 
  146.  catalog of "The House of Holly" in the Art-bookshop in the same 
  147.  street. For anyone who is intressted in the catalog, here is the 
  148.  e-mail adress of that bookshop: booksop@atrium.co.uk
  149.  The catalog is 15.- pounds. Lazlo has allready given you the most 
  150.  important details.
  151.  It contains an introduction by Holly, a foreword by Francis Spalding, 
  152.  a most recent Photo of "the gorgeous Holly Johson",  12 paintings and 
  153.  love- boxes. The biography (4 pages) goes beyond, 
  154.  what we know from "A Bone in My Flute". The most important news Lazlo 
  155.  has mentioned: Holly plans to record again and to create a web site 
  156.  and a multimedia CD-rom.

  293. updated again. There's news about the new album, which is being released on

  297. I was in Manchester last weekend and had the opportunity to chat with Darren
  298. and Andy of 808 State at Club Kudos. Daz was able to reveal to me that the
  299. new album will have a different bonus track per country released! The
  300. countries are USA, UK and Japan.

  302. I also asked him if they were still happy at ZTT and he replied "yes". But
  303. the only reason was because of Trevor Horn. He stressed that being on
  304. Warners worldwide isn't always easy, in terms of being allowed to release
  305. the material you want to release.

  331. that MC Tunes and his track "Pump" have disappeared. :(  I was looking forward to 
  332. hearing the Tune-ster again.

  339. I knew it!  Warners is screwing up ZTT!  After the sales Seal generated, I'm sure 
  340. they don't even want to bother with 808 State.  Just look at the last couple of 
  341. releases.  VERY mainstream...and VERY uninteresting (in general).

  344. internet a year ago?  I tried to download the file but it was pretty big and I 
  345. didn't have a lot of hard drive space left.  Anyway, my whole hard drive crashed

  347. never finished d/l-ing it!).  I really liked the track a lot and would be very 
  348. grateful if someone could email it to me or arrange to send it throuhg IRC.

  591. If he's written anything with Vangelis is hasn't been released yet... We 
  592. can only wait and see... Vangelis' last album Voices featured many guest 
  593. vocalists, such as Paul Young, Caroline Lavelle and Stina Nordenstam. 
  594. So it would not seem unlikely that a colaboration with Holly also can be 
  595. realized...
  596. I certainly hope Holly will release a full album soon... Legendary 
  597. Children was great fun, and Love & Hate with Sakamoto was good, but I

  617. TCH has largely been responsible for Tina Turner`s new album Wildest 
  618. Dreams. It has been panned here in England and is dropping fast out 
  619. of the charts. I quite like it. A bit too conventional, but it's 
  620. quite pleasant to listen to. Although the production is good, I think 
  621. the vocals are mixed a bit too loud (sounds as though it was mixed on 
  622. headphones which tend to overemphasise the bass).

  716. I can confirm the hole story you wrote. I have the track 'Owner of a lonely
  717. Heart' myself, featured on the "Yesstory" 2CD-Set. The track starts with a
  718. sampled breakbeat in a raw and warm sounding quality and last approx. 1
  719. bar. After that the song starts up with it's famous guitar lick. Later at
  720. 2.24 min. a break starts and lasts about 4 bars/8 sec. However, this break
  721. features some of the good 'ole mid 80's orchestral hits, and 3 sampled
  722. breakbeats each one of a duration of approx. 3/4 bar. It is not a looped
  723. drumbeat 'cause none of them lasts longer than 1 bar.
  724.  
  725. But I heard something, that this song is the first one to use nothing but
  726. samples except Jon's voice. Possible, because there are no timing errors
  727. (which are of course only human), and it doesn't contain any sound that is
  728. not 'samplable', or that could not be a sample. But it's a good song
  729. anyway.

  875. the fact that the mixing sounded quite amateurish. It's just that if

  1462. They're all 'older' ex-superstars that got their fame in the mid-late seventies,
  1463. they all seem to still have a youthful energy, despite their age,  
  1464. and they all have rough, wailing voices (except Cher maybe, I don't know
  1465. her stuff that well, but Seal falls into this category as well).  Maybe it's
  1466. just
  1467. doing rock and roll for 25+ years that brings you fame, energy and a rough

  1826. Ok, I think everyone is confused with the Mabuse lyrics and no one seems to
  1827. know if the Japanese lyrics are correct or not.  I have the JP cd of A
  1828. secret Wish and some of the lyrics ARE NOT correct.  So, I found the lyrics
  1829. of Dr. Mabuse that someone from the U.S. wrote a long time ago and these
  1830. lyrics seem correct to me.  At least they make sence... "Tell him your
  1831. dreams and FORGET your needs.  He's buying them all with cash"...
  1832.   I myself can't agree with the JP incerts!

  1928. I did that! In fact, i turned up at a Die Krupps gig to show Ralf Dorper my
  1929. copy of my japanese A Secret Wish LP. He just laughed. In the beginning of
  1930. the song, the jap's had transcribed the mumbling as "Apple, sir?". All
  1931. sorts of misinterpretations, he couln't even bother to correct 'em all.
