  87. decade, are finally being recognized for their work! Not only was Anne
  88. Dudley a winner, but Danny Elfman (Ongio Boingo) was up for two oscars!

  107. Forgive me if I'm sketchy on details, but Trevor Horn and some version
  108. of the Art of Noise are in the studio now (I think in Los Angeles?)
  109. working on *new material*. I'm fairly certain that JJ and Anne are on
  110. board; not sure about Gary. If I'm not mistaken, ZTT's web site (I'm not
  111. sure whether it's just www.ztt.com or not) has more information.

  113. JJ has also released a couple of albums I think under the name Art of
  114. Silence. Don't know about the sound or quality.

  195. My previous posting regarding a new Shane single wasn't exactly right.
  196. It's actually "Rock 'n' Roll Paddy" (not "Paddy Rolling Stone") which
  197. has been released:

  204. This might look like a very 'lean' single (R&R Paddy even being the album
  205. version).  But IMHO it's really worth buying, since the b-side is nearly
  206. exactly the opposite of what you'd excpect from this traditional song and
  207. from Shane MacGowan.  Having an ultimately cool distorted guitar an a truly
  208. bombastic snare arrangement, this even reminds me a bit of Simple Minds'
  209. "Belfast Child".

  211. More news: The cover-inlay doesn't only point to "www.ztt.com" but also

  239. anyway...i picked up a white-label test press of the 'new' 808state single, 
  240. namely Cubik '98/Pacific '98 a few days ago. no info AT ALL, so i'm basing my 
  241. guesses on info from Markus' official 808 site at www.808state.com - go and 
  242. visit! ;-)

  244. here's my thoughts on first hearings of the new mixes.

  248. this sounds like the 'live mix' to me, as it has a flavour of the old 808state 
  249. versus... stuff. more like 808 vs 808.

  251. quite a bit of scratching and lots of long vocal samples, including the main 
  252. one which goes; 'How are all you paratroopers out there? And the marines?' and 
  253. sounds like James Brown to me...

  255. anyway, the track doesn't have a great deal of the original left in it (at 
  256. least for the first half), but it sounds pretty good. the new bass line reminds 
  257. me of a track called 'Jingo' from the late 1980s, if any of you remember it.

  263. i'm assuming that this is an 808remix.

  265. this bears more resemblance to the original, but with a pretty uptempo snare 
  266. drum rhythm through it. lots of wacky notes chucked in here and there, and i 
  267. suppose you could call this an acid-ish mix.

  277. a 'pacific' remix. the original track starts off as you would expect, and then 
  278. adds a housey 120-125 bpm drum pattern over the top. eventually an acid-style 
  279. keyboard riff kicks in, followed by some jazzy clarinet (GM, i assume).

  281. i'm sure that this isn't the Grooverider mix, as there isn't a trace of a 
  282. jungle rhythm. maybe it's on another promo...
