  31. Someone was asking about Mark Dresser. He was a member of the Anthony Braxton
  32. Quartet for appr. 15 years. Virtually all albums are incredible as Marilyn
  33. Crispell(piano) and Gerry Hemingway(drums) are phenomenal as well.Also worth
  34. checking out are his CD`s with Tim Berne. I think Tim Berne is the best
  35. musician on the planet. Dresser is on Fractured Fairy Tales,Sanctified
  36. Dreams,Pace Yourself, and Nice View. I could go on and on about these but
  37. most are probably very familiar with them.

  55. Dresser is an absolute monster on the bass, and I mean that in the best 
  56. way possible. One of my current favorite records is the Arcado String 
  57. Trio/Trio de  Clarinettes "Green Dolphy Suite" CD on Enja. Ernst 
  58. Riejseger has replaced Hank Roberts in Arcado, which is an improvement, 
  59. for me at least. The Trio de Clarinettes is Louis Sclavis, Armand Angster 
  60. and Jacques di Donato. The music is a wonderful mix of chamber music and 
  61. jazz, some of the compositions remind me of Bartok and early Stravinsky. 
  62. Another interesting Dresser record is Bob Ostertag's "Say No More", in 
  63. which Ostertag recombines solo improvisations by Dresser, Joey Baron, 
  64. Gerry Hemingway and Phil Minton into ensemble pieces through extensive 
  65. computer editing. Also, if you haven't heard Dresser's work with Anthony 
  66. Braxton and Tim Berne, you really need to check that out!

  85. hearinghis playing on Tom Wait's "Frank's Wild Years" album, and then 
  86. finding the Third Person CD in our radio station woth him on some tracks. 
  87. Can anybody gime me information on what his solo releases are like, 
  88. and/or other releases where his work is prominent.

  117. seems like the 2 discs of Classic Guide To Strategy are longer than CD length

  127. rant against classicism.  The sentiment alone was enough to make me want to
  128. buy it but I did not have the money on me.  I forgot the artist's name and

  145. Zorn is on Bungle's jock like hurricanes on Florida, and rightfully so.
  146. When I saw Zorn at the Duke U. Masada show last year I think the man's very
  147. words were "Bungle knows their shit.  All I did as producer was just polish
  148. the stone".  For those of you not familiar with Bungle, they're like a yet
  149. more chaotic Naked City, weird funny violent and tighter than an
  150. earthworm's rectum.  And I think Zorn brought in Shea, but I didn't hear
  151. that out of Zorn's mouth- just commensurate respect for fellow avante guard
  152. musical instrument torturers.

  168. does anyone know all of the releases from a band called main?  i know its a
  169. kind of distant relationship to Zorn but thats how i got there....God to
  170. Godflesh to Main.  its very ambient industrial noise sorta stuff.  i have 2
  171. cds by them Motion Pool and a single but ive forgotten the title.  the 2 i
  172. have are on beggers banquet.  and might the Halfler Trio be to outside the
  173. new york thing to bring into the disscussion? namley halfler trios Fuck cd.
  174. i would higly recomend either of these bands to anyone who likes Absynthe
  175. also Illusion of saftey is good but not as....i dont mean to lead the
  176. disscussion away from Zorn but as i am always looking for new music i
  177. thought i might suggest these.  anyone else that has any suggestions that
  178. might lead me/us into a new direction would be great.

  181. the boredoms? if their even included...i heard of a band called CCCC but
  182. have had no luck in finding anything by them.  living in the city that has
  183. spawned such greats as guns & roses and warrant im surprised that a can of

  253. terse, dense, skronky. Not the slightest ballad, Brazilian rhythm or synthe-
