  8. PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT.

  10. Because cs.uwp.edu is due to be decommissioned soon, the hats, jarre, 
  11. kraftwerk, and yello mailing lists are moving from cs.uwp.edu to xmission.com.
  12. Here is a list of steps being taken to make this move happen.
  13.  
  14.   * All subscribers to the digest versions of the lists have been moved to
  15.     the regular interactive versions so that they will see this announcement
  16.     as soon as possible.
  17.  
  18.   * New versions of the lists and their digests are now up and running at
  19.     xmission.com.  SUBSCRIBERS WILL NOT BE AUTOMATICALLY MOVED TO THE NEW
  20.     LISTS.  YOU MUST RESUBSCRIBE AT THE NEW LOCATION.  To do so you will need
  21.     to send at least two email messages:
  22.  
  23.     1) Send email to majordomo@cs.uwp.edu with the command
  24.  
  25.           unsubscribe listname
  26.  
  27.        on a line by itself, where "listname" is hats, jarre, kraftwerk, or 
  28.        yello, as appropriate to the list(s) you're on.  If you are on more
  29.        than one list, your message should include one unsubscribe command
  30.        for each list you're on, with each command on a line by itself.  You
  31.        should NOT include the "-digest" part of the listname, even if you
  32.        were on the digest version of the list before you received this message.
  33.  
  34.     2) Send email to majordomo@xmission.com with the command
  35.  
  36.       subscribe listname
  37.  
  38.        on a line by itself, where listname is hats, hats-digest, jarre,
  39.        jarre-digest, kraftwerk, kraftwerk-digest, yello, or yello-digest
  40.        as appropriate to the list(s) you want to be on.  As with the
  41.        unsubscribe commands, if you want to be on more than one list you
  42.        need to send each subscribe command on a line by itself.
  43.  
  44.        In order to keep spammers from mailbombing the lists, the xmission
  45.        versions of the list are closed.  This means that you'll receive two
  46.        messages as part of your new subscription to the xmission versions
  47.        of the list: the first message will acknowledge that your request was
  48.        received and tell you that it must be manually handled by the list 
  49.        admin (me).  The second will be a copy of the list info file once 
  50.        I've actually forwarded the subscription request to majordomo.
  51.  
  52.     If you have any difficulty leaving the old lists or joining the new lists,
  53.     please email me directly at lazlo@swcp.com.
  54.  
  55.   * Messages posted to the old list addresses will be automatically forwarded
  56.     to the new lists for a short period.  PLEASE UPDATE ANY MAIL ALIASES YOU 
  57.     MAY HAVE SET UP FOR THE LISTS AND START SENDING YOUR POSTS TO THE NEW
  58.     LISTS INSTEAD OF THE OLD LISTS.  The only thing that will change is the 
  59.     machine name; "kraftwerk@cs.uwp.edu" becomes "kraftwerk@xmission.com", and
  60.     so forth.  The new lists will still be archived, so don't worry about 
  61.     missing messages if you don't get over to the new lists right away -- but 
  62.     please move as soon as you possibly can.
  63.  
  64.     DO NOT SEND MESSAGES TO BOTH LISTS IN THE HOPES OF "REACHING EVERBODY".
  65.     People on the xmission lists will get two copies of everything sent this
  66.     way, which will annoy them.

  110. WHAT THIS LIST IS ABOUT
  111. -----------------------
  112. The Yello Mailing List is a forum for discussions about the Swiss
  113. duo Dieter Meier and Boris Blank, a.k.a. "Yello".
  114.  
  115. Archives for yello are available via ftp from cs.uwp.edu (131.210.1.4) in 
  116. the pub/music/artists/y/yello directory.

  119. HOW TO SUBSCRIBE AND UNSUBSCRIBE
  120. To join "yello," send email to majordomo@xmission.com with the command 
  121. "subscribe yello" (without quotes) in the body of the message.
  122. You will recieve a confirmation message and a copy of this information
  123. file.  Once you are subscribed, you will recieve each message as it
  124. is posted to the list.
  125.  
  126. A digest version of "yello" is also available.  If you subscribe 
  127. to the digest you will recieve groups of postings in a single email message
  128. instead of one at a time.  These "digests" are sent out whenever there 
  129. is a certain amount of text in the queue.  To subscribe to the digest, 
  130. email majordomo@xmission.com with the command "subscribe yello-digest"
  131. (again, with no quotes) in the body of the message.
  132.  
  133. To leave the list, send email to majordomo@xmission.com with the command 
  134. "unsubscribe yello" or "unsubscribe yello-digest" (as appropriate)
  135. in the body of the message.  If you have trouble unsubscribing, send 
  136. email describing the problem in detail (what commands you sent, what
  137. you got back if anything, etc.) to yello-owner@xmission.com.

  139. PLEASE DO NOT MAIL "UNSUBSCRIBE" REQUESTS TO THE LIST.  Mail to the list 
  140. may take a few days to get my attention, but mail to yello-owner 
  141. is always dealt with as soon as possible.

  143. To switch from the digest version of the list to the regular version, or
  144. vice-versa, you much first unsubscribe from the version you're on and
  145. subscribe to the other version as detailed above.  Majordomo does not have
  146. a command that toggles digest status.

  148. Remember: problems with your subscription should be reported to
  149. yello-owner@xmission.com, not to the list itself.

  152. USING THE LIST
  153. --------------
  154. All postings to the list should go to yello@xmission.com whether you're
  155. on the regular or digest version of the list.  Message sent to this address
  156. will immediately be forwarded to all members of the list, and will be queued
  157. for the next digest.  New members are encouraged to introduce themselves.  
  158. When you join, please send a message to the list describing (in brief) who 
  159. you are and your interest in the list's topic.
  160.  
  161. Here are some guidelines to remember when using the list:
  162.  
  163.   * Majordomo will check to make sure that you are a list subscriber before
  164.     sending your message to all the members of the list.  You should send 
  165.     messages from the account you used to subscribe to the list, otherwise
  166.     your mail will be delayed.
  167.  
  168.   * The usual rules of list courtesy apply: avoid long signatures (four lines
  169.     is a good size), trim down quotations from previous postings, and try 
  170.     to keep messages relevant to the list's topic (no general advertisements,
  171.     "warnings" about viruses, chain letters, and so forth).  The list manager
  172.     has final say on whether a topic is welcome on the list; please do your
  173.     best to follow his guidance.
  174.  
  175.   * The messages you send are going out to hundreds of other people.  
  176.     Please think twice before posting flames or extremely large messages 
  177.     to the list.  You should *never* send graphics or audio files to
  178.     the list -- doing so may result in your subscription being canceled.
  179.  
  180.   * The list is not meant to be used as an advertising forum, though short
  181.     notices of the form "I have <this sort of thing> for sale; please email
  182.     me for a full list" are acceptable as long as the items for sale are
  183.     directly relevant to the topic of the mailing list.

  185.   * Please remember that ALL requests to join or leave the list should
  186.     be mailed to majordomo@xmission.com not the list itself.  If your
  187.     requests don't seem to be working for some reason, please email
