Subject: (yello) Yello-FTP
Hoi Everyone!
Just wanted to give you all a small notification in advance that I'm
working on a new Yello FTP-site. I for one was quite disappointed
when the old one ceased to exist and probably more of you felt that
way. Now a new (slightly different) Yello FTP-site will arise. I can't
be sure about how long it'll take before it's up, because I'm
encountering some difficulties with my computer (as always).
I plan to reserve about 100 mb of space for this site (maybe I can
spare more, but I'm also running another FTP-site and work with
harddisk recording, so I need to expand my hd badly). There will be
two sections to the site, an upload part and an archive part. I
thought it would be a good idea to mainly limit the actions to the
rare Yello-tracks (but anything can happen where deliberation is a
part of life). Probably 100 mb will not be enough to carry everything
I'ld like to place on the site, but I've got very powerfull friends who
own cd-writers (and who have gained lots of friends since) so I will
burn everything on cd-rom. A list with all the Yello-files I have will
be placed on the site aswell, so that if you want anything, you can
ICQ or email me a request and I'll place it on the site as soon as
possible.
The service of the site will only be made available to members of
the Yello-list.
I have my computer at home, so the site will not be online all day,
but because I don't have to pay any phonecosts, it'll be up most of
the day (especially from monday to friday (european callendar)). So
all of you must be able to reach me at one time or another
(although there are some people that joined my other site who
complain they never catch me online). Whenever I'm online on ICQ,
my site will be online too (mostly). My ICQ # is 3647659
(SunSinner).
I have a T1-connection and limit my users, so with a bit of luck, it'll
be fast all the time.
In some time I hope to have my cd-rom-player repaired and be able
to give a green signal to all of you.
All the information you need to know to get on my site will be
handed to you then also.
If anyone has any questions or suggestions, you can reply to this
mail, or look me up at ICQ.
Groeven,
Olaf.

Yes, my web page has been taken off-line for now, with the intention
that when 'The Lightmaker' is released (if at all) I'm going to dedicate an
entire (un-official) site to the film. But it looks as though it could be
some time
before that happens.

Hi Olaf,
If postage is not too outrageous, and it's of help, I'll mail you a 1 gig
SCSI drive for the FTP site.

Subject: (yello) A Billy Mackenzie Book
Hi there!
I don't remember if anyone has written about this, so...
While going through the latest issue of the Top mag
(Tower Records Free version :) I saw the following in the Books section:
The Glamour Chase - The Maverick Life of Billy Mackenzie by Tom Doyle
(Bloomsbury Press, 12.99 pounds)
"As Doyle points out, in relating the life of any artist who suffers a
tragically
early death, the plot draws inexorably to its own sad conclusion.
It is indeed a cautionary tale of a unique talent and a charming, feckless
man whose refusal to play the corporate game sealed his inevitable demise
into obscurity.
A well balanced book, Doyle is neither an obsessed fan out to right
his hero's injustices or a purveyor of salacious gossip but a realist.
Something Mckenzie could never be accused of."
Has anyone seen/read the book?

Great, especially because I have something new to upload (Hands on Yello
Updates plus B-sides of two singles I found in a used-record store this
weekend). I'm looking forward to your site!
Greetings

Subject: (yello) FTP slow start
Hoi!
My cd-rom drive's still down.
I'm trying to locate the problem, but that can take a while because
I'm currently plaged by exams (and 'coincidently' the sun (finaly)
began shining on exactly the same day as I started studying).
I decided to open the site already though. Not in the least because
I got some messages from people that are able to upload some
new tracks (seen from the old sites point of view).
So here's all the info you need:
IP: 132.229.149.134
L : Yello
P : SunSinner
all other settings are standard
This information is case-sensitive, so don't forget the capitals...
Important:
- - Just like the old one, this site is NOT here to provide a cheap way
to collect music by Yello. If by chance there's anything on it that
can still be found in the stores, go out and buy it (as if I should
have to tell that to a true Yello fan...).
- - Next to that this service is only meant for members of the Yello
list. So don't spread around the account-information I've given you.
If anyone wants this music badly, they should be a member of the
list anyway.
- - If you upload a track, please send some information on the track
(title and subtitle, source (cd-title for example, maybe even a
number), the name of the person who remixed it (if it's a remix)
and anything you think is important or fun to know) along with it
(txt-file))
I'll try to write some directions for usage of the site. But I can't be
sure as to when I'll finish it.
When done, I'll place it on the site.
So we're off to a slow start, but at least we started...
Groeven,
Olaf.
