One of my frends said me, "They are very gambler. They compose

Sorry for getting off-topic, but I thought since the activity on the list was so low
it wouldn't really hurt. I'll keep it short.

Does anyone know about any recordings of 'Scenes de Ballet' by 'Berioz' (note,
not Berlioz!!!). It's a classical piece of which I'm told it's never been released on
any sound medium.
Catalog numbers or just the mere mentioning of it's existence would be a great
help to me (I want to buy it for my girlfriend).

Yo!
A few weeks ago I saw a brilliant movie called "Underground". A funny
and dramatic Slovenian film. So what's that got to do with Yello?
Well, one of the two friends who the film's about (Unfortunately I don't
remeber his name, but you will know who I mean) looks quite a lot like
Dieter Meier, if you don't take is hair into account! Take a look for
yourself and see if you agree with me. It is most easy to see the
similarities in the latter part of the film.

Hi Tomote !
This is not completly true.
Dieter Meier (the songwriter) used to play profeesional
poker a few years ago.
But he does not need to make money with the music, because he
comes from a rich family (swiss banker).
All the things he does, he is doing as an artist.
Perhaps gambling is not an art, but Dieter liked to play.

Boris Blank (the musician) has nothing to do with gambling.
He lives in a world of sounds and mixes.
Boris is working everyday in his own studio creating new sounds
and arrangements. And there is nobody allowed to disturb him.

Hello!!  Yello!!

My name's Mike and I live in Harrow, London, UK.
I'm a Graphic Designer / Typesetter in my late forties (an oldie but
goodie!!)
I've been a Yello fan ever since being knocked out by 'The Race' many years
ago.
They definitely produce the best driving music in the universe (pocket or
otherwise!)
Even my 20 year old daughter thinks I'm a "cool dude" when I yank the volume
up.
I logged onto the net last month and its great finding all this info about
Yello.
But there are two questions I need answers to.
Will they ever tour the UK? And is there a video available somewhere?

Move...... Dance......... Be Born!!!!!!

I was watching the very first episode of Lost In Space yesterday (don't
laugh) when I heard the announcer in the control tower say "Zero minus
one hour and fifteen minutes and holding". Sound familiar, anyone? I
thought so, so I got out Night Train and Suite 904, and I'm sure it's
the same sample (the sampled version is slightly slower and lower in
pitch, but I'm sure it's the same). Anyone agree?

If somebody could sample the voice in the series, we could compare.
But hey, we should also stare at sample CD and sound effects CD collections
having Lost In Space material.

Jonas, have you already asked Boris what CD collections he has used?

What other samples are used in Yello songs? There is an arabic female
vocal in Santiago. What else? Suite 904 has some female voice too
used as rhythm instrument.

as far as I am aware, Yello have only done one concert, and that was at the
Roxy in New York over ten years ago, so no chance of seeing them here. If they
ever do turn up you'll have ot be second in the queue for tickets behind me!

As for videos, there are a couple of videos of the singles. Your best bet
would be to try your local HMV or whatever, and if they are deleted there are
a series of second hand record shops in Notting Hill Gate near the tube
station that may well have them. Well worth a visit if you have nothing better
to do.

Seeing as we aren't a million miles apart, it might be interesting to get
together some time.

Some time ago I invested in three CDs - "Decksdrumsandrockandroll" by =
Propellerheads, "Let us play!" by Coldcut and the "Ray of light" by =
Madonna. I was going to buy Propellerheads and Madonna, and stumbled =
across the Coldcut one really cheap, so I got that one too.

"Decksdrums..." by Propellerheads is really an excellent record, and I =
can understand why lots of people compare them to Yello - they make =
really good electronic music, a bit out of the ordinary. However, one of =
Yello's trademarks are the sounds and samples of Boris, while =
Propellerheads' sounds are a bit more of the ordinary kind (but when =
they make this good music, who cares?) :)  Recommend tracks 1, 7, 10 and =
12... =20

On the other hand, Coldcut, which I haven't really been that familiar =
with, use (if possible) even more strange noises and samples for their =
music than Yello. Listen to e.g. "More Beats + Pieces" or "Timber" - the =
last one actually uses sounds from a mill (ehm, not sure about that =
word, but anyways, somewhere they cut wood...)  I really recommend this =
record for all Yello fans on this list. Yeah, and it comes with a "free" =
CDROM full of "coldcut games, toys & videos for mac & pc", which =
actually includes QuickTime versions of 5-6 of their music videos.=20

Just have to mention the track that's playing in the background now, too =
- - "Every home a prison"... interesting lyrics (about the only one with, =
I think) and original sounding beats.

Well, now I forgot what I was going to say about the Madonna record, =
besides I like most of it a lot - mostly because of this William Orbit's =
sound, but, well, this is something new from a person like Madonna. I =
could never imagine that I was going to buy a Madonna record after =
"Erotica" or "Sex" or what the heck she called it.

Propellerheads you just _have_ to get as a devoted Yello fan, and I =
strongly recommend the Coldcut record too - for some really good =
original electronic music. The Madonna one is a safe one, but I guess =
not everybody's that keen on this artist.
