How about adding a line at the bottom of every message? Like=20
# Yello rarities available at ftp://Yello:Yello@152.65.243.239:2666. (This
would be something Lazlo would have to do of course.)

I have tried a few programs that clean up. The Logic Audio program from Emagic
worked the best. Still I would highly disagree to use any program to clean it
up. The longer the song the worst the job it does. I sort of normalized some
frequencies. Even the Logic program no matter how well you set the sensitivity
or other functions they still sound like shit they become very muffled. Also
when you do this you must check in on studio monitors not your computer
speakers!

Subject: (yello) software
Hi guys!
Finally we have established some exchange of Yello rarities. Thanks for you
time and your effort, especially to Shane!
I have changed the software that I need for our mp3 collection a couple of
times, but I am still not happy with all the programs I use. I would like
to share my experience with you about this and maybe you can recommend
something?=20
Presently I use (all for Win95):
- - for CD ripping (i.e. copying songs from CD or other audio to wav files)
WinDAC32 1.33
- - for compressing wav files to mp3 CD compressor 0.9f
- - as mp3 player Winamp 1.70 (I have seen that there is 1.73 now)
- - as ftp software (upload + download) ftp voyager 5.0.2.1
Some features:=20
- - WinDAC32 recognised my CD-ROM drive automatically, it's simple to handle
and it's in German. The messages in the shareware version bother a bit, so
either you buy the product or you look for a crack on www, but we wouldn't
do anything illegal would we? Unfortunately it creates only huge wav files
which my harddrive doesn't feel too comfortable about. Isn't there any easy
to use CD ripper that creates directly mp3 files?=20
- - CD compressor is able to create only 128 kbps / 44 kHz files as maximum
quality, but with regards to file size that's OK for our purposes as we
have discussed earlier on. Creating these in normal mode takes an hour or
so which is a bit long. That's why I did it in quick mode (about 15-20 mins
for a song) but I consider compressing the songs again in normal mode and
upping them after Shane's hint about quality. Somewhere I read that this
program has been banned, I have no reason why... Apart from that I am happy
with this.=20
- - Winamp is powerful. I like the equalizer, the playlist editor and the
fact that you can edit those ID tags (i.e. tags about album title, artist,
year plus a comment which become part of the mp3 file), they make the extra
txt file on the ftp server almost superfluous. It takes a little too much
RAM capacity though.=20
- - ftp voyager has this faciliy of resuming an ftp upload or download when
something goes wrong. Really useful.=20
OK. If you have any idea on how to improve this please feel free to
comment, if you wish by e-mail or if your comment is of interest also to
the other mp3 newbies by replying to the list (I hope the Yello purists
don't mind too much about this posting...)
I am looking forward to your next songs.

Hi everybody !
I'm not "really" new on the list (joined in November) but since I've read
the whole 200 last messages in one time (!) I decided to be more involved
in it. There are things to say...
But to be brief (?) this time, I'll only introduce myself :
I'm a 31 years old Froggy French Fan of Yello (am I the only French speaker
here ?). I discovered them at the begining of the '80 on the radio. It was
the start of what we called the locals "free radios" (vs the nationals
authorized AM ones) on the MF band, wich are now quite as big, powerful and
boring as the others. Made by some freaks with poorly means, my local radio
ended its programs about 11-12pm, then put a tape of various songs 'til the
day after and... go sleeping ! One night I've heared something that looked
strange to me, something I've had never listened anywhere, never.
It was "I Love You" and "Lost Again". Oh God : this new sounds, music and
voice... I was completly crazy about it. As it was the same tape every
night, I "take care" to go there "Same time, same place" for weeks to
listen to them !! Later in 1986, they had a "Number one", here in Europe,
with "Viscious Games". Then I started my collection.
One day, I even cancelled a concert of Earth Wind & Fire (yes : I've been
young...) just to listen the 4 albums I'd received in the afternoon !
Maybe I missed a lot since the begining of the list, but how was it for all
of you, the "first time" ?
CU, Elric.

Hello all. I have the Propellerheads CD, so I can add some comments. First
of all, the comparison with Yello; I wouldn't exactly call them the Yello
of the 90's. IMHO, they haven't quite got the spark of individualism or
originality that Yello have. Its hard to explain, but when I listen to
Yello I just feel that this is music that comes from two zany, crazy,
individuals, and that no other people can sound quite like these two guys.
When I listen to Propellerheads, I think that it is good music, but
probably any good musicians could come up with something similar. It just
doesn't have an individualistic feel. Perhaps on future albums they may
develop more.
As for "History Repeating...", this is a good song, but is not a full
indication of what the rest of the CD is like. The other songs have far
less reliance on lyrics. There is a fair amount of variety in how the other
songs sound, which is good. Some of them have great bass sounds, and I
think that some of the percussion work on some of the tracks does sound
similar to some Yello work.
Overall, I really like it.
Just my opinions of course.
Regards,
Craig.

Hi Guys,
Has S.A.X. ever been released, and if so has there been any remixes done??
Seeings I'm in Australia, we don't get a huge amount of Yello stuff,
especially Singles or remixes of any kind.
Just asking because it's an excellent song.
Talk to ya soon

How about if we made a FAQ, that answered those questions - gave the derived
consensus so to speak - and then send out the FAQ to each new subscriber to
our list? That would certainly take care of most of the questions?

recording. I think mine is "A Secret Wish" from PROPAGANDA. Anybody knows

I'll vote for that. The follow up "1 2 3 4" is worth a listen imho, and
they were one of the ONLY ones possibly "weighing in" with YELLO!
If anyone is up for discussion: What would YELLO have sounded like being
produced by someone like Trevor Horn, who, as it happens, produced
Propaganda's debut album mentioned above "A Secret Wish"?!
