From: John Webster <john@xmission.com>
Subject: (xmcolocate) XMISSION: New feature http://chat.xmission.com
Date: 19 Jul 2001 14:34:45 -0600
This is an informational message about a new way to access XMission's
customer chat room, #xmlounge.
While we've run our irc server (ircd.xmission.com) and have staffed
#xmlounge for a long time, we decided to make it easy for people to
quickly connect to the chat room. Meant to help customers with little
needs from time to time, #xmlounge is a nice place for XMission
customers to chat with each other or to ask a quick question from the
techs. While we can't promise you'll always get a quick and complete
answer, most people do.
To try out web irc, all you need to do is point your browser to
http://chat.xmission.com and follow the simple instructions on that
page.
I hope it is helpful to some who don't know or care how to use a
traditional irc client. Please keep in mind that web irc can be slow.

John -
Are you aware of the Red Worm virus. It just wiped out our IT server. FYI
check out the articles in www.newsbytes.com for more info. According to the
article it infects one server and propagates itself to 20 other IIS systems.
There is a 300 meg patch available from Microsoft to block the worm at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS01-033.asp
I've passed the word to the Trib you may do the same with the News if you
want so our local community will be aware without finding out as we did
earlier today.
Thanks,
Ray

Ray,
We are aware. It has hammered about 400 of our DSL clients. An
announcement is being crafted now and will be sent to this list once it
has been completed.
Thanks for the update. I will pass it along.
