Hi gang,
Wow, had an initial interview with a referral from my big client. It turns
out that they have more money that the client who referred them.I struggled
with the vb conversation but persevered and got them, husband and wife, up
to level three. Interview went really well and for the first time it was
really fun for me. The wife spontaneously told me at the end "I haven't
talked to my husband about this but I feel really comfortable and it was
really fun". The husband said to me that he had a friend "who only had 6 -
8 million but did I think that I could help them".
This is so mind boggling. I can actually see for the first time that I have
the potential to make some big numbers. It is funny. I heard all the big
stories, read about them but didn't really believe them. I just thought if
I could have a small percentage of what I was hearing that I'd make it. I
am getting a glimmer that this is REAL.

Hi Donna,
What a great experience! You know, I remember Bill's comments to you on
the conference call (last Fall?). I recorded it because he answered
some questions to me also. I'm real happy for your success!
I've had a pretty mind-altering VBS experience in the last month as
well. For some time, I've been determined to implement Bill's system on
generating referrals. It's been way out of my comfort zone to ask my
clients for referrals. I've made some half hearted attempts 6 months
ago to ask for referrals. I'm somewhat new in the business, so I've
don't have that much history with my clients. During the last month, I
began having my first semi-annual meetings with my earliest clients. As
a note, I've done a financial road-map for every one of my clients when
we first met.
I must confess that I've felt some trepidation meeting with them during
the current market conditions. But, the results have been amazing!
I've been worried that I was going to be meeting with and trying to
soothe a bunch of angry people. The exact opposite has happened. Time
and time again, I've been hearing people say things like, "Where were
you 20 years ago!", "I trust you Jeff", and "If that's what you're doing
with your own money, that's good enough for me!".
Where this amazing experience truly culminated in my mind is when I
asked them for referrals. Most of my clients really knocked themselves
out giving me referrals. One client gave me 26, and when I thanked him
and said I appreciated his help, he floored me by saying, "As much as I
like and trust you, I'm not doing it for you, I'm doing it for my
friends and family!". Another client said, "We'll do everything we can
to help -- we want to see you stay in business!".
The bottom line, I have 63 referrals to follow up on. Each client I met
with this month gave me on average about 8-9 referrals. My outlook has
been totally changed on this subject. The barriers were all in my mind
-- not in my clients' minds.
My next focus is following up with all these referrals. It's time to
review Bill's chapter on "Being Brilliant on the Phone".
Best Regards,
Jeff

Jeff,
What an incredible story. This system is so awesome. Congratulations
I have teamed with a man who has 20 yrs experience as a stockbroker. He is
completely turned around to vb selling now. He will probably go down to San
Diego in November. We have split the duties to reflect our relative
strengths. I essentially do the vb interview and then we jointly work on
the technical stuff. I am getting a great education on the technical.
Being able to rely on him frees me to make the connections with prospects
and clients and he told me that by relying on me to make the connections, he
is free to use his strengths. As with clients, the foundation is trust. It
is amazing to me. There are times when he isn't really sure where I am
going but trusts that I'll get there.
We really haven't been seeing that many people but am reminded of what Bill
said, "How many do you need?"
The work environment here is very stressful and probably will get worse.
The company did not do well last year. As I become more successful, they
leave me alone and I am learning to ignore them. Bill did free me when he
said last fall that I have to make a choice, i.e. the systems are
incompatible. The answer is simple but in all things implementation isn't.
When it comes all together, it is like magic.
I am going to Japan this Thursday for a month. My daughter is there
teaching conversational English in a small village of 2600 in the mountains.
We shall be traveling around for most of the time. It is Cherry Blossom
time there and a good time to get away.
Keep the emails coming. I enjoy hearing from you all. There are a few
internet cafes in Japan.
Best regards,
Donna T. Carter
