  121. More than likely, Alban was more expendable to us than Bales. Whoever
  122. got called up was probably just going to sit on the bench anyway. Why
  123. send Bales up to warm the Dallas bench when Alban can do it just as well
  124. and Bales can attempt to keep the Grizz in the playoff hunt? Seems like
  125. Dallas might just be serious about the Utah players having a shot at
  126. feeling the playoff atmosphere.

  148. That makes sense to me.  I have to admit I was really worried when I saw
  149. the headline.  I immediately though we had lost Bales and was relieved when
  150. I read that it was Alban who was called up.  I wonder if Mouser will be our
  151. backup tonight.  Ha ha.  But, seriously, when we were at the Skate Away
  152. Hunger, Tim was telling us he had to go practice with the team because
  153. Alban had some tendinitis.  I'm sure we probably called up a goaltender
  154. from Idaho but I would be only mildly surprised if I saw Mouser sitting on
  155. the bench...  Weird thought...

  301. Actually,I believe that Mouser  DID sit on the banch as an emergency backup
  302. once   said he prayed the whole game that the goalie did'nt get hurt-  by the
  303. way  there is a picture of him-in his mask and grizz jersey on the cover of the
  304. 98 Grizz magazine(5 year anniversary)- took me the longest time to figure out
  305. who it was until I remembered the mask after seeing him dressed for a senior
  306. league game

  533. Mouser did sit on the bench previously as an emergency backup. From what I
  534. heard, the only problem that arose from that was the players union got
  535. upset. He hadn't paid his dues. He donated his game pay to the Grizz
  536. Charities.
  537. P.S. It was pointed out to me after the game that the team is 2-0 with a
  538. 0.000 GA while he is the backup.

  594. What a game the Grizz played last night! Everyone was out there hustling for
  595. the whole game. We got great efforts from players that I didn't expect.
  596. Passing was crisp and tape-to-tape. The desperation of their playoff hopes
  597. seems to have finally set in. My only question is "Why did it take so
  598. long?".
  599. Last night was also the first time I've seen Metcalf actually loose his
  600. cool. With all the bad calls he makes and all the abuse he takes for it, Bob
  601. must have said something pretty bad. Talk about playing with emotion;-)

  682.         WEST VALLEY CITY -- The Utah Grizzlies are
  683.     playing like they are already in the IHL playoffs. Now,
  684.     the hockey team just needs to qualify for the postseason.
  685.  
  686.         Utah's stifling and disciplined defense sparked a 2-0
  687.     win Friday over the Cincinnati Cyclones before a
  688.     crowd of 6,471 at the E Center.
  689.         "We did a heck of a job smothering them. We got
  690.     them to turn the puck over a lot and we spent a lot of
  691.     time in their end," Utah coach Bob Bourne said after his
  692.     team limited the Cyclones to 17 shots overall and just
  693.     one in the second period. "It would have been a crime
  694.     to lose with the effort we had tonight. It was a total
  695.     team and 60-minute effort."
  696.         The Grizzlies (34-32-6) are one point behind the
  697.     third-place Chicago Wolves in the Western Conference
  698.     with 10 games left in the regular season. The Wolves,
  699.     however, have played three less games. Utah also is
  700.     chasing the Milwaukee Admirals of the Eastern
  701.     Conference.
  702.         The top four teams from each conference qualify for
  703.     the playoffs, but if the Admirals finish with a better
  704.     record than the fourth-place team in the West, they
  705.     would crossover to claim that postseason berth. Utah is
  706.     two points behind Milwaukee and the Admirals have
  707.     played three fewer games than the Grizzlies.
  708.         That may sound desperate, but Utah trails first-place
  709.     Manitoba by four points and the Grizzlies play eight of
  710.     their last 10 at the E Center, including seven in a row to
  711.     complete the season. The teams meet again in West
  712.     Valley City tonight (7:30, KWUN-AM 1230) before
  713.     heading to Ohio to complete the three-game set
  714.     Tuesday.
  715.         Utah played perhaps its best defensive game of the
  716.     season, holding the third-highest scoring team in the
  717.     league scoreless. The Cyclones average more than 31
  718.     shots a game; not Friday. If Bales had been hurt or
  719.     struggled, Grizzlies president Tim Mouser, a former
  720.     professional goalie could have ended up in the game.
  721.     Chad Alban, Utah's backup goalie, was called up on an
  722.     emergency basis to backup Marty Turco as the Dallas
  723.     Stars played the New York Islanders on Friday.
