At portal A (between 126 & 101) they try to stop people until a whistle.
Unfortunately, a lot of people don't seem to understand or are just
plain rude to begin with. (it's hard to tell after a few beers sometimes
if people are really that inconsiderate or if they just aren't smart
enough to understand the concept) They either push their way through or
stand there cussing the usher. Personally, I've found that I have
trouble getting to my seat, all the way at the bottom, in the time it
takes to start play again. In this case, I either sit down in a
convenient empty seat or just sit in the isle until the next stoppage. I
do agree, it is extremely hard to keep up with a game as fast as hockey
when you have someone thinking their a yo-yo in your row.

Karen and I got to go to a Thrashers game in Atlanta in October
and they were very strick about not letting people go up and down
aisles while play was going on. However, the Phillips Center was
designed so there is a walkway along the top of the sections so
people could stand and watch the action until play stopped.
Since the E center isn't set up that way it is probably more
difficult to halt people and make them wait.

This All Star thing is PATHETIC!!! Why is Utahs fault that we love and
support our men and we know that they will kick butt at the game!? We know
that they will make the IHL look just as great as the NHL. Irs not OUR ( Utah
fans) fault that we are the only ones who believe in our team! WE care! I
thought it was the rule that it was the MOST votes!! Cyndi

Grizzlies Dominate the Vipers
Wednesday,
December 8, =
1999

THE SALT LAKE TRIBUNE
The Utah Grizzlies apparently have forgotten how to lose a =
hockey
game. The Grizzlies overcame an early deficit to beat the Detroit =
Vipers
5-1 Tuesday at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan. Utah (14-5-2) =
has
earned at least one point in the standings for nine straight games, =
with one
shootout defeat -- basically, a tie.=20
Tuesday's "was the most convincing win we have had," said Utah
Coach Bob Bourne. "We started a bit slow, but we dominated from
halfway through the first period on."=20
Detroit (7-16-2) scored first when Peter Ciavaglia connected on =
a
power-play goal 7:46 into the game. That was the only goal Utah's =
Ian
Gordon gave up. Gordon, who has been playing backup to Rich Parent, =
has
won three in a row. But give this win to the defense. Detroit only =
produced
16 shots in 60 minutes.=20
"Our defense was unbelievable," said Bourne. "We were so solid =
and
we broke up so many Detroit plays that we turned around and took =
into
their zone. They had no real scoring chances in the last two =
periods."=20
The Grizzlies took over in the second period, giving up only two =
shots.
The offense found its stride with three goals, including two 22 =
seconds
apart. Defenseman Pat Neaton got Utah on the scoreboard with a
power-play goal 4:19 into the second. Ten minutes later, Sean =
Tallaire
scored his team-leading ninth of the season.=20
His lead did not last long. Micah Aivazoff beat Detroit goalie =
Tim
Thomas 22 seconds later to regain a tie for the team lead. Joe =
Frederick
put the game out reach five minutes into the third and Mick Vukota =
scored
the final Utah goal with 36 seconds left.=20
The Vipers had won two in a row after going 12 without a win, =
and
Thomas was coming off a shutout against the Chicago Wolves. It =
didn't
matter to the Grizzlies.=20
The win moves Utah into second place in the Western Conference
behind Manitoba. The Grizzlies trail Manitoba by three points, =
despite
having played seven fewer games. "We talked about how important a =
win
would be, because we were the only team playing," said Bourne. "Now, =
we
are ahead of most teams. We are feeling pretty good about ourselves."=
=20
Bourne likely clinched his spot as a coach at the IHL All-Star =
game with
the win. "I've thought about it the last couple of days," he =
acknowledged. "I
don't want to talk about it until it is official, but it sure would =
be an honor."=20
