Date: 02 Apr 1997 15:53:08 -0500 (EST)
Hi Gang,
I'm new to this list and I'd like to complete my Voyager Season 2 set. I need

Also I'm wondering is there a list somewhere of all Star Trek cards that have
been made, that tells a little about each set? (how many cards, number

Subject: trektrade: PLAYMATES ANNOUNCES "LIMITED EDITION" STAR TREK FIGURES
Date: 24 Apr 1997 20:10:13 -0500
Http://www.playmatestoys.com/pages/startrek/limited.htm
Hi Everybody,
Here's a bit of info for us Action Figure Collectors.
I guess playmates didnt get it when we all protested about the 1701
crap.
Jeff
611 Anton Blvd., Suite 600, Costa Mesa, California 92626 (714) 428-2000
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PLAYMATES ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL "LIMITED EDITION" STAR TREK FIGURES
COSTA MESA, Calif. (April 24, 1997) =96 Playmates Toys announced today
that it will include one "limited edition" Star Trek action figure in
each wave of its Star Trek basic figure assortment. This decision was
made to maintain full, nationwide distribution of the 4.5" figure line.
There will be 10,000 pieces of each limited-release figure produced, and
the identity of these figures will not be pre-announced. Playmates will
confirm which figure in each product wave is "limited edition" after the
product reaches retailer shelves.
According to Jim Garber, senior product manager for Playmates, the
decision was made by Playmates' management team, after consulting with
its retail and licensing partners, in order to ensure full retail
support for this segment of the brand.
"Our primary objective is to keep the basic figure assortment easily
available to consumers across the country. Based upon the retailer
feedback we received, having some limited-release figures makes the 4.5"
figure assortment more collectable and creates excitement among
consumers," said Garber.
Playmates also confirmed that it will limit production of its 9"
Collector Series figure assortment to 15,000 pieces of each figure.
Playmates has always limited the assortment's production to 15,000 per
figure, a quantity that continues to match market place demand
for the figures.
The new Strike Force and Combat Action Figure assortments scheduled for
release later this summer will not include any limited-release pieces.
Playmates Toys Inc. is a leading marketer of many of America's
best-selling toys, action figures and dolls, and is acclaimed throughout
the industry for its sculpting, craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Its core brands include the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles=AE; "Sta=

Waterbabies=AE and Baby So BeautifulTM lines of dolls. Its Playmates Game=

Subject: trektrade: Important List Request
Date: 29 Apr 1997 11:52:27 -0600
Dear TrekTrade members,
This maillist was started as a way of helping people find other Trek fans
to buy/sell/trade with. Originally I chose to not allow commercial
advertising messages but I have had a few requests to allow these now.
Since I started this list to help us all out I thought it best to get
member feedback before just laying down the law.
Here are the options I'm proposing. Please reply to me with your choice or
feelings about these so I can keep this list where the member prefer.
1. No problem... Let em' advertise.
2. Forget it! Advertising just wastes my time.
3. Start a new maillist (TrekAd or TrekCom maybe?) for the commercial stuff
so those interested can join it seperately and keep the trade stuff seperate.
4. Any other suggestions???
Thanx for taking time to respond and please don't post responses to the list.
