Hi,

At the moment there is no BtVS on a Dutch channel but there are
plenty alternatives. I think probably 95% of all Dutch households
can view the BBC, where they are tomorrow airing 'Never kill a boy
on the first date' (Season 1 episode 5?). But be warned, the BBC
apparently thinks the British viewing audience is of such a weak
disposition that they do MAJOR cuts in the fighting scenes.

I also heard the show will be broadcast by the Belgian TV which
is also readily available everywhere in Holland. Generally there
is no dubbing in Belgium or Holland so you should be able to
watch the show with the original dialogue but with subtitling.

There was a Dutch channel showing BtVS (SBS6) but they broke it off
mid season 2 (last episode: The Dark Age). Several people contacted
SBS6 about this, including me. They said in reply that the viewing
rates where not good enough and that they would try again in the
new year (1999). I have not seen it on their schedule though.

SBS 6 did some major cuts in the show as well someone told me,
not to protect impressionable souls but to have enough time
for commercials. I have never noticed it because their episodes
were the first ones I saw. Now I have the video's, some later
episodes in RealPlayer format and I watch the BBC every week.
I was hooked from the beginning :)

now then, Helpless rocked! i know i'm still suffering from withdrawl over
the lack of new eps lately, but this kicked major butt. it had good
suspense and action, and the story worked well for the most part. but my
favorite thing about this show is its unpredictablilty. yeah, i saw the
"holy water in the glass" thing coming and Joyce going out of the house to
get caught, but that's all. maybe i'm just dense but i sat for an hour last
night and was totally pleased. but Giles being fired? i guess it's time to
open that office supply warehouse... i did think about it some last night.
and i came up with a few possibilties. first, that the new Watcher will
arrive and Buffy will ignore everything. or maybe the new Watcher will get
bumped to Faith, since Buffy is no longer the "current Slayer" and Giles
hasn't really been the "current Watcher". or maybe this will set up Giles
to have to find a way to stay involved with Buffy outside of the ordained
callings, say maybe something like a new fatherly role with Joyce? don't
know, but it will be interesting to see this all play out. in the meantime,
i'll be watching Helpless over and over again. next is "The Zeppo", it
looks kinda out of sync, doesn't it? later!!

I understand that this was supposed to be Buffy's test, but once Giles told
her the truth why didn't someone call Faith???  She should have still had

powers!!  Why do they exclude her from some episodes like she doesn't even
exist and then include her in next week's??
Faith may not be the most endearing character but she could have easily
helped
Buffy fight that guy!
Other than that, the episode was really good! :-)
 Does anyone have any answers?? Or other points of view??

The reason is cause 20th century Fox studios produces Buffy. It just airs on
the WB. It is not uncommon for shows to be produced by other companies or
networks and air on an opposing network, I've noticed it a few times.
Notice
how at the end of Buffy, right after Mutant Enemy does his thing, there's
the
20th Century Fox fanfare and logo. Since they produce Buffy I guess they
also
get to distribute it or something.

Sarah is probably the only cast member that I would say has had little if
any time
spent on the Internet. Alyson and Joss have posted at buffy.com, and David
has
done an interview online a couple times. A friend of mine, Shawn, who is
also a
list member, is an employee of America Online and has told me that Sarah has
refused online interviews several times. With all the fake nude pictures
that
float around, I can see why she doesn't like the Internet.

However, if she does happen to email the list, as Matt had inserted, her
return
address will be hidden. I'd expect it to be a buffy.com or WB official
address,
but all posts have X-sender information, so if you attempt to fake
something,
everyone will know about it :)

Also, BeeHumper, what is your connection to the cast specifically?

Twentieth Century Fox produces Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  They then sell
the show to the WB.  This is very common in television.  For instance,
Fox also films "The Practice"(ABC), "Martial Law"(CBS), and "The
Pretender"(NBC).  Also, CBS films "Caroline in the City" but it airs on
NBC.  When Buffy goes to syndication, Fox will be making the money, not
the WB.

that's THE only benefit of working at a movie theater!  well, that and

cool...Ryan Phillipe and Sarah have HUGE head shots on either side...and
Reese Witherspoon has a small full-body shot at the bottom--and I'm also
getting the banner for "Simply Irresistable"--I should put in a request
for a poster too when we get them...   hey--I'll see what I can do about
getting my hands on some extra posters or something (everyone at the
Cinema knows that I'm a Sarah fan, so they ususally save stuff for me)
and I'll let you all know if I come up with anything...maybe we could
arrange something...

Hi, am I the only Scottish guy on this list?
British TV has just started the first series of BTVS, but it doesn't =
seem to have taken off over here.
Some of the newspapers are already(after 4 episodes) telling people not =
to watch it!?!?  I'm doubtful about the show making it past the first =
series - poor me.
I was wondering what the ratings were like in America for BTVS during =
the first series? I presume it's pretty big now?

Since I'm new, can I ask who BEEHUMPER is and how he has a connection to =
the Buffy cast?
I'm a bit sceptical about Sarah mailing the list, but hey, what do I =
know?

Buffy said Faith was on a "walkabout."  It's an Australian term.  It just
meant that she had literally gone walking about and they didn't know where
she
was.  You see what you learn from watching movies?  I got that from
Crocodile

Hi all you drooling Sarah fans,
I just wanted to know more about these alledged cuts the BBC do to BTVS.
Since I haven't seen an uncut scene, I don't know what I'm missing. Are we
talking major bloodiness or what?

ALSO: I am wondering about the future of the series every time i read one of
your messages.
It seems from what you are saying that in a couple of series time, the show
will flop, with Angel leaving for his own spinoff, and buffy will no longer
be the slayer but some girl called faith who links up with Xander. I am
going insane or is it just the writers? I knew Joss Whedon was a little
crazy but please, what hope is there in a show called "Buffy the Vampire
Slayer" which does not feature a Slayer called buffy? There seems to be a
growing trend in the TV world to keep a program running, even when the title
character gets killed off. I've just heard Giles has left/will leave
depending which series your network is showing. I hope this
"kill-the-main-characters-and-keep-going" trend isn't happening to BTVS.
That would be a loss, but if S.M.G. is doing something more worthwhile then
all credit to her. Her film career is more important in my view.

He's essentially been instructed to stay away from Buffy from here on out,
as
I understood it. That would seem to preclude any such relationships; the
only
reason I can think of that they might do such a thing would be if Mr. Head
(which sounds silly when you say it) were going to be leaving the show,
which
seems unlikely to me. So either he's going to leave, or the new Watcher is
going to run into problems (aside from the personality conflict with the
Slayer) and possibly get killed, or the new Watcher is going to be an
actually
nice person rather than a hard-liner and won't enforce the prohibition, or
Buffy (and friends, probably) will take some action. Because she isn't
without
power here, entirely; after all, what happens to the Watchers if the Slayer
simply *refuses to cooperate*? She could take on the additional
responsibilty
of protecting Giles from being "dealt with", which I think she wouldn't be
likely to mind doing, and simply go from there about as she has been.
Although
I doubt things will go that far, I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was
some confrontation along the lines of "you can't do much without the
Slayer's
cooperation, can you?" eventually.
And about Faith - is she old enough to have undergone this "rite of
passage"?
If so, did she, or did her Watcher die beforehand? If she's old enough but
hasn't, will they try to put her through it? If she did, why didn't she tell
Buffy, and what will happen when Buffy starts wondering why she didn't? If
Faith knows nothing about the rite, what happens after Buffy tells her about
it (as I'm sure she will)?
And though it's mostly irrelevant - was Kendra old enough to have gone
through
the rite?

Okay, I think it's safe now.  About faith and Xander, it's true, as far
as I know, that they DO have sex...well, maybe not SEX, maybe
just...kissing and moaning naked...yeah, okay, they have sex.  I'm not
exactly sure what's up with that...kidna wiggs me out, personally.

  now, another comment is about Cruel Intentions.  I read in a magazine
that Sarah refused to get naked in the movie, which I highly respect of
her to do so.  But I have also read on countless web sites about Sarah
that she, in fact, DOES get naked in the movie.  Um...can any of you
actually give me accurate info?

  About the whole SARAH ONLINE deal, okay, the guy with connections, how
do you have the connection?  Who is your connection?  Huh?  Cuz, you
didn't seem to mention it.  I was on an SMG list previously, and there
was an extra who was on Buffy, and he was our biggest connection.  I'd
have to say i'm a pretty big connection myself...

  I know someone who lives across from the WB Lot, and I also have a lot
of other connections.  So,......yeah.  Just thought I'd let you know.

1. Fox produces 'Buffy' but it's the WB that airs it, BUT...
2. the domain 'buffy.com' is owned by the WB;
3. the fanmail address is WB's;
4. Sarah appeared on a WB opening show/commercial.
